About The Position

The Warehouse Forklift Driver is responsible for operating a lift truck continually throughout their shift, performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, and ensuring product is moved and stored safely and securely. This role involves staging product for outbound loads, managing waste disposal, and operating lifting devices to transport materials. The position also requires manual loading and unloading, maintaining departmental housekeeping, and adhering to all safety and security standards. Reliable attendance and the ability to perform other assigned duties are essential.

Requirements

  • Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a lift truck continually on shift, requiring proficiency in driving backwards and constant observation of travel direction.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, including battery maintenance, and reports any defects or needed repairs.
  • Inspects product condition to ensure it is free of damage or contamination.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its designated storage location.
  • Stages product for outbound loads according to specific requirements.
  • Removes and empties waste bins into the appropriate receptacles.
  • Moves controls to operate lift trucks for transporting raw materials, finishing supplies, or finished product between the warehouse, trailers, and operating lines.
  • Operates lifting devices such as forklifts, lift beams, swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secures material or products for transport.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Operates a powered air supplied respirator for cleaning functions.
  • Maintains housekeeping of the department and surrounding areas.
  • Ensures reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
