About The Position

The Warehouse Forklift Driver is responsible for the continuous operation of a lift truck, including driving backwards and maintaining a clear view in the direction of travel. Key duties involve performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning and recharging batteries, and reporting defects to supervisors. The role also requires inspecting products for damage or contamination, safely moving and storing products, and staging them for outbound loads. Additionally, the driver will remove and empty waste bins, operate controls to transport materials to and from various locations, and manually load or unload materials. Operating a powered air supplied respirator for cleaning and maintaining department housekeeping are also essential functions. The position demands reliable attendance and adherence to all safety and security standards.

  • Two (2) years related experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment.

  • Must be able to complete Holman’s forklift certification program.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a lift truck continually on shift.
  • Must be able to be proficient in driving backwards and able to look in the direction of travel on a continual basis.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries (operating a man-on-board battery (magnetic) system) and refers defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Inspects condition of product verifying that it is free of damage or contamination.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Stages product for outbound loads with correct requirements.
  • Removes and empties waste bins into proper receptacles.
  • Moves controls to drive lift trucks and transport raw materials, finishing supplies or finished product to and from the warehouse, trailers or operating lines.
  • Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Operates a powered air supplied respirator to perform cleaning functions.
  • Housekeeping of department/areas.
  • Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
