About The Position

The Warehouse Forklift Driver operates a lift truck continually throughout their shift, requiring proficiency in driving backwards and constant awareness of travel direction. This role involves performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including battery maintenance. The driver is responsible for inspecting product condition, safely moving and storing products, and staging product for outbound loads. Additionally, the position includes emptying waste bins, operating lifting devices to transport materials, and manually loading/unloading items. The role also requires the use of a powered air-supplied respirator for cleaning functions, maintaining departmental housekeeping, and ensuring reliable attendance. All duties must be performed in accordance with safety and security standards.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Two (2) years related experience in warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer or tablet skills; hand-held radio.
  • Forklift Certification preferred.
  • Must be able to complete Holman’s forklift certification program.
  • Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time.
  • Ability and willingness to work the voluntary/mandatory overtime required during the busy season.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous and professional manner with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to identify and compare letters and numbers.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as receivers, invoices, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and write simple sentences.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a lift truck continually on shift, requiring proficiency in driving backwards and looking in the direction of travel.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries and referring defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Inspects condition of product verifying that it is free of damage or contamination.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Stages product for outbound loads with correct requirements.
  • Removes and empties waste bins into proper receptacles.
  • Moves controls to drive lift trucks and transport raw materials, finishing supplies or finished product to and from the warehouse, trailers or operating lines.
  • Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Operates a powered air supplied respirator to perform cleaning functions.
  • Maintains housekeeping of department/areas.
  • Ensures reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
