About The Position

This position involves operating a lift truck to perform various material handling tasks within a warehouse environment. Key responsibilities include driving a lift truck continuously throughout the shift, performing routine inspections and maintenance on equipment, and transporting materials between different areas such as loading, unloading, processing, and storage. The role also encompasses specialized duties like unloading products from inbound carriers, verifying and inspecting received goods, picking and staging products for preload orders, and loading trucks according to specific guidelines and safety standards. Adherence to safety and security standards, reliable attendance, and the ability to work overtime during busy seasons are essential.

  • Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time.

  • Ability to verify paperwork necessary to ensure customer is receiving correct product.

  • Basic scanner technology.
  • Valid State Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Operates a lift truck by driving backwards and twisting to be able to look in the direction of travel on a continual basis.
  • Operates a lift truck all shift.
  • Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning or recharging batteries, and refer defects or repairs to supervisor/maintenance.
  • Moves controls to drive battery-powered lift trucks and transports materials between loading, unloading, processing, and storage areas.
  • Moves levers and controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams and swivel-hooks, hoists, and elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, and stack material.
  • Positions lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, and boxes, and secure material or products for transport to designated areas.
  • Manually loads or unloads materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, or lifting devices.
  • Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
  • Unloads products from inbound carriers (truck and rail cars).
  • Verifies that the product received is identified and counted accurately.
  • Inspects condition of all received product.
  • Moves and places product safely and securely in its proper storage location.
  • Receives and reads preload orders.
  • Fills orders by accurately picking product from storage and staging that product on a spot utilizing stacking guidelines.
  • Inspects and loads trucks and arranges the products with the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
  • Uses scanning devise and computer as needed to perform tasks.
  • Checks printout for shortages, over-counts and incorrect model numbers.
  • Corrects shortages, over-counts and incorrect models where possible.
  • Inspects trailers before loading products.
  • Counts units on preload spot and compares with shipping documents.
  • Moves products from the preload spot, and directly from storage when required, into the trailer.
  • Arranges the products within the cube of the trailer according to recommended loading practices and guidelines.
  • Properly secures the load for travel.
