About The Position

This role involves performing all functions of dispatchers and material handlers, including unloading, preloading, and loading. The Lead will supervise the daily activity of warehouse and dispatch Team Members, assist management in coordinating workflow, and review orders to determine work sequences. Key responsibilities include assigning work, monitoring productivity, planning assignments, and coordinating operations to ensure on-time deliveries while minimizing irregularities and damage. The position also emphasizes ensuring safety through education and maintaining a safe work environment, communicating policies and regulations, and ensuring the facility is clean and orderly with minimal product damage. The Lead will coach and counsel team members, investigate operational errors, and confer with management on inventory accuracy and quality control. Coordination of shift handoff activities for optimal resource utilization and communication of operating issues to management are also crucial. The role includes driving vehicles or operating machinery to complete assignments and requires reliable attendance.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One (1) to two (2) years previous work experience in high paced warehouse environment.
  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to master internal computer systems.
  • Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time and work alternative schedules to accommodate the needs of the business.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous and professional manner with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all functions of dispatchers and material handlers, including unloading, preloading, loading.
  • Supervises daily activity of warehouse and dispatch Team Members.
  • Assists Manager/Supervisor in coordinating workflow, recommending work assignments.
  • Reviews orders, shipping or receiving notices to determine work sequences.
  • Assigns work and monitors productivity to ensure high standards of quality, accuracy, housekeeping, product damage minimization, safety and overall efficiency.
  • Plans assignments, coordinates and monitors operations within the warehouse and dispatch to ensure on-time deliveries are achieved, reducing irregularities and damage.
  • Ensures safety in work processes and Team Member performance by supporting company and/or facility safety programs by educating Team Members, and by ensuring a generally safe work environment.
  • Communicates policies, safety regulations and SOPs to warehouse and dispatch Team Members; follows-up to ensure compliance and consistency; assists in corrective action as necessary and documents the issue and actions taken.
  • Ensures that facility is maintained clean and in an orderly fashion.
  • Ensures that product damage is kept to a minimum.
  • Coaches and counsels Team Member regarding job performance, methods of performing job tasks and safety.
  • Investigates operational errors to determine the cause and recommend corrective action where needed.
  • Confers with management personnel to establish and maintain inventory accuracy and quality control standards.
  • Coordinates shift handoff activities to obtain optimum distribution and utilization of human resources, machines, equipment and material.
  • Informs Shift Manager/Shift Supervisor of all operating issues and problems and make recommendations for corrective action to ensure quality warehouse operations and customer service.
  • Drives vehicles or operates machines or equipment to complete work assignments or to assist workers.
  • Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
