About The Position

This role involves performing all functions of dispatchers and material handlers, including unloading, preloading, and loading. The Lead will supervise the daily activity of warehouse and dispatch Team Members, assist management in coordinating workflow and recommending work assignments. Responsibilities include reviewing orders and notices to determine work sequences, assigning work, and monitoring productivity to ensure high standards of quality, accuracy, housekeeping, product damage minimization, safety, and overall efficiency. The Lead will plan assignments, coordinate and monitor operations to ensure on-time deliveries, reduce irregularities and damage, and ensure safety in work processes and Team Member performance. This includes educating Team Members on safety programs and ensuring a safe work environment. The Lead will communicate policies, safety regulations, and SOPs, ensuring compliance and consistency, and assisting in corrective actions. Maintaining a clean and orderly facility, minimizing product damage, and coaching/counseling Team Members on job performance, methods, and safety are also key. The role involves investigating operational errors, conferring with management on inventory accuracy and quality control, and coordinating shift handoff activities. The Lead will inform management of operating issues and recommend corrective actions. Driving vehicles or operating machines/equipment to complete assignments and reliable attendance are essential. All duties must be performed in conformance with safety and security standards, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One (1) to two (2) years previous work experience in high paced warehouse environment.
  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Ability to master internal computer systems.
  • Ability to work required schedule and arrive at work on time and work alternative schedules to accommodate the needs of the business.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally in a courteous and professional manner with others.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instruction.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews orders, shipping or receiving notices to determine work sequences.
  • Assigns work and monitors productivity to ensure high standards of quality, accuracy, housekeeping, product damage minimization, safety and overall efficiency.
  • Plans assignments, coordinates and monitors operations within the warehouse and dispatch to ensure on-time deliveries are achieved, reducing irregularities and damage.
  • Ensures safety in work processes and Team Member performance by supporting company and/or facility safety programs by educating Team Members, and by ensuring a generally safe work environment.
  • Communicates policies, safety regulations and SOPs to warehouse and dispatch Team Members; follows-up to ensure compliance and consistency; assists in corrective action as necessary and documents the issue and actions taken.
  • Ensures that facility is maintained clean and in an orderly fashion.
  • Ensures that product damage is kept to a minimum.
  • Coaches and counsels Team Member regarding job performance, methods of performing job tasks and safety.
  • Investigates operational errors to determine the cause and recommend corrective action where needed.
  • Confers with management personnel to establish and maintain inventory accuracy and quality control standards.
  • Coordinates shift handoff activities to obtain optimum distribution and utilization of human resources, machines, equipment and material.
  • Informs Shift Manager/Shift Supervisor of all operating issues and problems and make recommendations for corrective action to ensure quality warehouse operations and customer service.
  • Drives vehicles or operates machines or equipment to complete work assignments or to assist workers.
  • Reliable attendance at scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.
