About The Position

This position is inclusive of all general warehouse and driver duties associated with the functioning and operation of the HVA Food Bank as instructed by the USDA/Warehouse Manager and VP/Executive Director.

Requirements

  • Possess a current and valid CDL.
  • 1 to 2 years of general warehouse experience is necessary for this position.
  • The ability to operate a forklift, electric and manual pallet jacks, and advanced truck operations are required skills.
  • Ability to communicate and relay information in an orderly and timely fashion.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to follow directives are requirements.
  • Forklift Certification (or obtain within 90 days of employment)
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds
  • Drive a truck and forklift proficiently.
  • CDL is required.
  • Basic comprehension of English language using the traits marked above for purposes of safety, management direction and job responsibility, and minimal third party interaction.

Nice To Haves

  • A High School diploma or higher is desired but not required if work experience is evident.
  • Experience driving a box truck or bigger highly desired.
  • Possess the ability to safely drive a box truck.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Access is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver USDA/TEFAP commodities as directed by the USDA/Warehouse Manager.
  • Pick up donated food from a variety of locations, such as, congregations, food drives, grocery stores and other businesses.
  • Ensure food is unloaded, weighed, recorded and moved to the proper area for sorting.
  • Act as back-up USDA/TEFAP driver as directed by the USDA/Warehouse Manager and/or Program Director.
  • Maintain drivers log and daily vehicle checklist.
  • Report any vehicle issues and/or accidents immediately to your supervisor.
  • In conjunction with the USDA/Warehouse Manager, responsible for assuring the food distribution area is maintained and that adequate food supplies are available for the distribution team.
  • In conjunction with the USDA/Warehouse Manager, works with volunteers and community service workers to ensure food distribution runs smoothly.
  • Assists the USDA/Warehouse Manager in assuring the Food Bank vehicles are properly maintained.
  • Assist in maintaining the warehouse in a clean and orderly manner and assist in keeping the Food Bank property orderly and free of debris.
  • Prepare warehouse for and perform all opening & closing functions and operations for warehouse.
  • Prepare and set up food distribution areas for daily business.
  • Unload, weigh, and record incoming shipments of emergency food delivered to Food Bank by donors.
  • Unload and distribute USDA/TEFAP commodities as directed by the USDA/Warehouse Manager.
  • Unload, weigh, record and distribute Feeding Pinellas product as directed.
  • Assist volunteers and community service personnel in their assigned tasks.
  • Build orders for USDA sub sites and Feeding Pinellas partner agencies as directed.
  • Keep all skids, pallets, and containers in their assigned places.
  • Weigh and record perishable and non-perishable donation waste on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Assist drivers in pulling USDA/TEFAP commodities in reparation of delivery to sub-sites.
  • Assist USDA/Warehouse Manager with data collection for periodic inventory.
  • Assist in maintaining in workable fashion all Food Bank equipment necessary to perform daily tasks.
  • Collaborate with other organizations and groups within the community to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating events meant to raise funds (sanctioned events, community events, etc).
  • Provide staff support at events, as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned by USDA/Warehouse Manager and Program Director
