About The Position

The Warehouse & Counter Sales Associate provides friendly, reliable service to contractors and walk-in customers by assisting with plumbing, heating, and HVAC product orders, pulling and staging materials, and supporting daily counter and warehouse operations. This is a full-time position based at our Red Hook, NY branch (7311 South Broadway, Route 9), focused on accuracy, teamwork, and a safe, organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Counter sales, parts counter, inside sales, retail, or warehouse experience preferred, ideally in a plumbing, heating, HVAC, building materials, or distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with plumbing, heating, and HVAC products, materials, industry practices, and basic regulations preferred; ability to learn product lines and systems quickly.
  • Results-driven and customer-focused, with the ability to support contractors, trade professionals, and walk-in customers in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities

  • Actively seek opportunities to help customers at the sales counter, parts counter, and by phone, providing excellent customer service to contractors and walk-in customers.
  • Locate, pull, stage, and obtain ordered HVAC, plumbing, and heating products for customer orders and warehouse fulfillment.
  • Assist with the handling of defective parts, returns, and manufacturer warranty information in accordance with company procedures.
  • Process approved customer credits and returns accurately in the order entry and inventory system.
  • Address customer questions regarding product specifications, pricing, availability, lead times, and part numbers.
  • Ensure all product catalogs, vendor literature, and pricing materials are current, removing expired or outdated materials as needed.
  • Accurately and safely move products of varying weights, including pipe, fittings, fixtures, and HVAC supplies, following safety guidelines.
  • Provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced warehouse and counter sales environment.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls professionally and pleasantly, assisting with orders, pricing requests, and product inquiries.
  • Accurately input, process, and fill customer orders using the company order entry system.
  • Accurately read, identify, and verify part numbers, SKUs, and quantities for order filling and receiving materials.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with shipping, receiving, stocking, inventory organization, and general warehouse operations as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional counter sales and warehouse work environment.
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks in accordance with safety standards.
  • Remain up-to-date on all workplace safety practices, warehouse safety procedures, and company standards.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as directed by management.
