Your purpose: Responsible for ensuring that all incoming and outgoing material, and the related paperwork, meet the quality inspection standards in accordance with SQF at Morris Packaging. Essential Functions: Inspect and identify material and related documentation as prescribed by the purchase order/sales order or contract specifications highlighting any nonconformance or omissions. Responsible for ensuring that outgoing shipments are adequately packaged, preserved, and meet SQF requirements. Operate stand up reach forklift. Operate sit down forklift. Use sit down forklift to unload and/or load trucks. Attention to detail. Ability to multi-task. Must be efficient with a desire to succeed. Scan material into the warehouse or to its proper location. Arrange the rolls coming off the trucks and make room for other material prior to unloading. Always ensure a safe work environment. Identifies, reports, and resolves safety issues. Shipping/Receiving Specific: Verify product and quantities shipped to packing slips/bill of ladings. Check for damaged goods. Deliver and retrieve supplies to and from work or storage areas. Ensure the dock area stays clean and organized. Ensure required reports and any other paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Material Handler Specific: Demonstrate a working knowledge of Morris’ processes and how to support them. Stocks inventory in shelves and overstock locations. Maintain a clean production work environment. Assist Production, Fulfillment and Quality department as requested. Competencies: Communication with all levels of the organization. Organizational skills. Work prioritization. Technical capacity. Record-keeping skills. Data entry and Microsoft suite applications. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be primarily in our climate-controlled facility. The plant floor is subject to vibration and equipment noise leading to a loud environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and might also be exposed to outside conditions, tight spaces, cleaning solvents and heights. Physical Demands: This is a full-time position. Days, nights and hours may vary depending on assigned shift and productions requirements. This position may require significant work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle or customer volume of business. Continuous (6 to 10 hours per day) bending, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs, reaching, lifting, and grasping. Continuous (6 to 10 hours per day) standing and walking. Continuous (6 or more hours per day) talking, teaching, and repetitive motion, hand/wrist movement. Good eyesight, normal hearing. Ability to move and lift objects, frequently 75 lbs. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position on rotating 12-hour shifts (daytime shifts 6am-6pm; night-time shifts 6pm-6am). Days, nights, and hours may vary depending on assigned shift and production requirements. This position may require significant work hours beyond the normal workday based on the demands of the business cycle, customer volume of business. Travel: Travel is not required for this position. Required Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards. Ability to read and write English. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Knowledge of equipment operation and/or maintenance. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork. Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers. Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects. Ability to perform simple arithmetic. Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel. At least 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Ability to troubleshoot complex issues with equipment operation. Capable of multi-tasking the operation of production.
