About The Position

The Warehouse Clerk is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the receiving, storing, and tracking of goods within the warehouse. This role involves unloading shipments, organizing inventory, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the warehouse is kept in a safe and orderly condition.

Requirements

  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Proficiency in using computers and visual display units for inventory management.
  • Experience with data entry for delivery slips, requisitions, and invoices.
  • Ability to perform physical counts of stock.
  • Knowledge of proper storage methods and inventory tracking.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations in a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to examine stock for defects and report damage.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in advising supervisors on stock and re-ordering levels.
  • Skills in maintaining computer records related to repairs, assignments, and authorizations.

Responsibilities

  • Unload goods and check them against order forms.
  • Place goods in bins or on racks, stack bulky items on floors etc. and label items with storage details.
  • Move heavy packages using the forklift machinery.
  • Obtain details of the location and quantity of items in stock, using visual display units or computers.
  • Enter details of received delivery slips, requisitions and invoices into computers.
  • Count and record the number of items in the warehouse stock during stock take or inventory.
  • Advise supervisor on stock and re-ordering levels.
  • Help keep the work area neat and tidy.
  • Maintain computer records of data such as who performed repairs, assignments, requirements and authorizations.
  • Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
  • Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
  • Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
  • Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
