About The Position

This role is responsible for shipping, receiving, transporting, and storing materials and finished goods. The position involves completing simple shipping/receiving documents and maintaining accurate inventory records. The Warehouse Clerk I will operate various lift trucks, perform preventative maintenance on equipment, determine shipping priorities, pull and stage daily shipments, prepare products for transport, load and unload trucks, process shipping documents, receive raw materials, and transport materials within the warehouse. Additionally, the role requires maintaining accurate inventory using ERP and barcoding systems, delivering supplies to other departments, and arranging and recording cycle counts. Housekeeping duties include maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly warehouse and reporting any damage to equipment or the facility. The position also emphasizes maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations, and adhering to Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures, including reporting any QFSMS issues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three years or more of related experience is required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple documents such as safety rules, work instructions and memos.
  • Ability to write simple information on department forms for accountability.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization as needed.
  • Ability to add, subtract and multiply using whole numbers.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to identify and correct problems.
  • Ability to enter data and maintain bar coding and computerized inventory system and email.
  • Ability to run basic reports and process transit paperwork.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain lift licenses for required warehouse equipment.
  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. several feet.
  • Must occasionally lift and carry up to 75 lbs. several feet from pallet to waist height.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must wear safety glasses and hearing protection at all times while performing in this role while in the warehouse.
  • Must wear Food Safety protective equipment at all times while in the warehouse: including hair nets, gloves and, if applicable, beard nets.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a variety of lift trucks to move and store materials and finished goods.
  • Perform preventative maintenance of lifts and record daily inspection of equipment.
  • Determine shipping priorities based on customer needs.
  • Pull and stage daily shipments accurately.
  • Prepare products for transport by banding and/or stretch wrapping.
  • Load and unload trucks, including trailer inspection, and record findings.
  • Process simple shipping documents as required by customers.
  • Receive raw materials in ERP system, including necessary inspections and verifications.
  • Transport materials, finished products, and packaging materials into/out of warehouse locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory using ERP and barcoding system.
  • Deliver supplies to other departments as needed.
  • Arrange, perform, and record cycle counts.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly warehouse.
  • Report damage to equipment and warehouse facility to Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
  • Understand and follow all Quality Food Safety Management System (QFSMS) policies and procedures.
  • Report problems with the QFSMS to a supervisor or manager.
