About The Position

This is a cross-functional position with sublevels in Receiving/Shipping and Order Picking. The role involves receiving, storing, and distributing products within the establishment. Responsibilities include reading shipping orders, sorting and placing materials, operating equipment, assembling customer orders, marking materials, opening containers, unpacking and inspecting shipments, recording inventory, compiling worksheets, and affixing labels and shipping information. The position also supports all other warehouse functions and performs other duties as assigned. Specific tasks in Order Picking include pulling stock according to FIFO, packing orders, delivering materials to the production floor, controlling inventory, ensuring warehouse safety and cleanliness, and learning to verify packing labels and unload pallets.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Two to three years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short, and memos.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
Experience with Scan guns.
Forklift experience (either sit down, stand-up or both).
Experience in all areas of shipping.
Beginner to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
Scan guns experience required.
All areas of shipping.
Basic computer knowledge, math skills and scale use required.
Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger; handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and talk and hear.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of warehouse and manufacturing principles is preferred.
1-2 years warehouse experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Receives, stores, and distributes products within establishments.
Reads shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Sorts and places received materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence.
Operates tier truck or uses hand-truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves.
Marks materials with identifying information.
Opens crates, and other containers.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, routes items to departments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Adjusts errors and complaints.
Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Uses computer to enter records.
Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
Inserts items into containers and affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Nails covers on crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Posts weights and shipping charges and affixes postage.
Provides support for all other functions in the warehouse.
Pulls stock according to FIFO for production orders using handheld device, packing into boxes and on pallets or crates.
Delivers the material to the production floor, placing it in the appropriate areas accurately and safely according to date on production order.
Controls inventory material and checks accuracy of counts.
Ensures warehouse safety and cleanliness by using protective safety equipment, operating machinery safely, and performing any necessary cleaning tasks.
Learns to read and verify packing labels and list, unload pallets of materials, inspect materials for damage.
Pulls production orders to the floor timely and accurately.
