This role involves assisting in the warehouse by crating, pulling product, and unloading trucks. The associate ensures that orders are filled accurately for customer satisfaction and that cartons shipped are structurally sound and suitable for sale by visually inspecting cartons, repairing and reboxing as needed. The position requires performing daily preventive maintenance and safety checks on motorized equipment, warehouse maintenance and housekeeping, and attending scheduled staff meetings. The associate must also actively participate in all plant safety programs and maintain an accurate time card daily.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Reliable work history strongly preferred.
  • 6 months of distribution construction/trade experience (carpentry, painting, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude helpful.
  • Basic knowledge of shipping process helpful.
  • Must have good eye/hand coordination, excellent manual dexterity including a skill to use hand and electrical tools, and an ability to read and comprehend numbers.
  • Ability to lift up to 86lbs on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist and ability to team lift 87 to 100lbs.
  • Must be detailed oriented, possess good communication skills, and interact well with others.
  • Must be able to separate product by profiling color.
  • Position requires continual lifting, twisting and bending.
  • Must be proficient in the use of a claw hammer, pneumatic nail gun, pneumatic bander, and an electric skill saw.
  • Safety glasses and ear plugs must be utilized as instructed.
  • Must be willing to obtain a license to operate motorized equipment.
  • If applicable, may need to be certified to operate a crane.
  • Safe work performance is required from each Associate at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the warehouse by crating, pulling product, and unloading trucks.
  • Ensure that orders are filled accurately for customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure cartons shipped are structurally sound and suitable for sale by visually inspecting cartons, repairing and reboxing as needed.
  • Load loose cartons into trucks to ensure stability during shipment.
  • Collect wood product for the set-up and construction of crates.
  • Build crates from wooden materials around cartons of product in preparation for shipment by flatbeds.
  • Repair or reseal damaged cartons, or rebox product when necessary.
  • Consolidate all accessory and siding products on storage racks when needed.
  • Perform daily preventive maintenance and safety checks on motorized equipment.
  • Perform warehouse maintenance and warehouse housekeeping.
  • Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings with Distribution Supervisor, if necessary.
  • Perform basic duties of Warehouse associate 2 at times, based upon ability and experience.
  • Maintain an accurate time card daily and calculate on a weekly basis.
  • Actively participate in all plant safety programs, depending on location.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner in accordance with applicable Health and Safety Manuals.
  • Required to wear or use personal protective equipment as applicable and to immediately report unsafe working conditions.
  • Comply with all legislative requirements as outlined by Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
