About The Position

This role is responsible for a variety of functions within the distribution center, such as receiving, stocking, loading and unloading merchandise, picking and operating heavy-duty equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts. The associate will follow established procedures and guidelines to receive, handle, store, record, and dispatch goods in a warehouse. This includes receiving incoming goods, checking for damage and discrepancies, sorting, labeling, and storing goods to optimize space. The associate will also pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods according to requests, and maintain up-to-date stock records by entering data into a computerized system. They will also perform routine clerical activities such as answering telephones, updating stock cards, and completing necessary forms.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education
  • Basic level of education will be required; reading, writing, and basic numeracy
  • Required to follow simple instructions
  • No formal occupational training required
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills required
  • Displays common courtesy and politeness and uses basic verbal skills
  • Accountable for delivery of own tasks to agreed time and quality standards

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • One year of experience preferred
  • Non-office based roles may operate some simple equipment under guidance and instruction

Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming goods; check for damage and for discrepancies between goods and invoices.
  • Accurately sort, label, and store goods; arrange storage to optimize warehouse space.
  • Pick, pack, and dispatch outgoing goods according to written or verbal requests or orders.
  • Enter data into a database or other computerized system to maintain up-to-date stock records.
  • Retrieve stored information to respond to enquiries (for example on inventory levels or delivery schedules).
  • Perform other routine clerical activities according to the organization's established procedures.
  • Answer telephones.
  • Update stock cards and inventory records.
  • Complete receipt, transfer, delivery, and dispatch forms.
  • Operate heavy-duty equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts under guidance and instruction.
