About The Position

This role is responsible for various warehouse and delivery operations, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders and efficient inventory management. The associate will represent the company professionally, maintain delivery vehicles and warehouse spaces, and operate material handling equipment safely. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in both office and warehouse environments.

Requirements

  • Possess a clean driving record: No more than one moving violation in any one-year period, or more than two moving violations in the most recent three years.
  • No more than one preventable accident in any two-year period during the most recent three years.
  • No restrictions, suspensions, or DUI convictions in the past three years.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical examination.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide superior service.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as requested.
  • HS diploma, or GED equivalent, is required.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to use general office machines and multi-line telephone.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of informational documentation, procedures, and correspondence.
  • Ability to write correspondence with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees using correct English and a well-modulated voice.
  • Good voice quality that is conversational and professional.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, guidelines, and objectives.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to use a variety of office machines and equipment.
  • Average levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
  • Must be able to operate computers, calculators, copy machines, facsimile machines, and other general office equipment.
  • Extensive use of computer monitor, keyboard, and telephone is required.
  • Must be physically able to lift equipment components, parts, and machinery.
  • Occasional standing, bending, stooping, and/or walking are required.
  • Must be able to use body members to work, move, and lift or carry moderately heavy objects, equipment, or materials up to 20 pounds.
  • Physical demand requirements are at levels for moderately active work.
  • Specific visual abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and color vision for reading.
  • Ability to talk (expressing and/or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words) and hear (perceiving sounds of nature by ear).
  • Physical appearance to the public and internal employees must be positive.

Responsibilities

  • Represent East Coast Metal Distributors by wearing a clean, company-provided uniform.
  • Execute timely deliveries, greet customers, verify items with proper initialing and dating, and assist with unloading trucks.
  • Notify Warehouse Manager of any discrepancies before leaving a delivery location.
  • Maintain a clean and safe delivery vehicle, both inside and out.
  • Immediately report any personal injury or vehicle accident to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Obtain products for counter sales orders and greet customers with their orders.
  • Validate correct items and quantities on pick tickets and transfer requests with proper initialing and dating.
  • Notify Warehouse Manager of any discrepancies with shipments.
  • Assist other warehouse personnel by verifying correct items and quantities.
  • Secure, stage, and ship orders via LTL, UPS, and company delivery vehicles.
  • Unload incoming inventory, document its arrival, and verify items and quantities against the Vendor's Packing List.
  • Submit packing lists for entry of items into warehouse inventory.
  • Incorporate inventory shipments into warehouse inventory.
  • Become proficient and certified in Fork Truck Safety and Operations.
  • Use all material handling equipment safely and correctly.
  • Notify Warehouse Manager and Branch Operations Manager of any needed service, repairs, or unsafe conditions concerning material handling equipment or company properties.
  • Immediately report any injury.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly warehouse.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
