Warehouse Associate/ Backup Route Driver
About The Position
The Warehouse Associate/Backup Route Driver performs warehouse operations and backs up route deliveries. Warehouse duties include checking and preparing customer orders, packing and routing merchandise, loading and unloading trucks, operating warehouse equipment, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Route-driving duties include transporting and delivering compressed gas cylinders and hard goods, completing vehicle inspections and required documentation, tracking deliveries, managing cylinder returns and inventory, maintaining the assigned vehicle, communicating with supervisors, and providing professional customer service.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of driving experience.
- CDL A or B with HAZMAT.
- Meet all physical qualification standards imposed by the DOT.
- Clean MVR driving record.
- Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
- Ability to stand and walk on concrete for extended periods, bend, use hands and arms, and regularly handle cylinders weighing 150 pounds and up to a maximum of 600 pounds.
- Flexibility to work overtime as required.
Responsibilities
- Pull, check, and verify customer orders for accuracy.
- Prepare, pack, and route merchandise for shipment via UPS, FedEx, truck line, or courier.
- Load and unload delivery trucks safely and efficiently.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment and follow company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Safely load, transport, and deliver compressed gas cylinders and hard goods to customers.
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Complete required DOT and FDA documentation accurately.
- Track deliveries and pickups using handheld technology.
- Return empty cylinders for refilling and maintain proper inventory levels.
- Maintain the cleanliness and operational readiness of the assigned vehicle.
- Communicate with supervisors regarding maintenance, delivery efficiencies, and customer concerns.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional interactions.
- Identify customer needs and help ensure appropriate inventory levels to minimize emergency deliveries.
