Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years previous warehouse / logistics management experience.
  • Proficiency in RF (Radio Frequency) systems.
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written) and fluent in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office required.
  • Excellent customer service oriented attitude with ability to get along with diverse personalities and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of Tree of Life associates.
  • Must be tactful, mature and flexible with good reasoning abilities and sound judgement.
  • Must have strong management skills with ability to efficiently organize a large team on various shifts.
  • High energy level, comfortable and ability to establish credibility and be decisive but be able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities.
  • Must maintain good attendance and maintain safe work practices.
  • Maintain safeguards of confidential company information.

Nice To Haves

  • Current Forklift & Related power equipment license and training certificate preferred.
  • Computer skills in AS400 and SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Warehouse Manager with the efficient management of all warehouse functions including budget, warehouse condition, inventory quality, food safety requirements, equipment maintenance and training of warehouse staff.
  • Proactively manages labour efficiency to ensure accurate inventory, selection and loading of product in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Manages and contingent plans inventory, quality standards and associate staffing.
  • Develops supervisory staff and provides leadership.
  • Serves as an operational resource expert.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Ensures all company-sponsored safety programs are administered correctly according to best practice.
  • Accomplishes warehouse operations human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Establishes and implements operational policies and procedures including but not limited to production, receiving, routing, inventory, and transportation as it relates to the warehouse.
  • Responsible for the development and training of Warehouse Supervisors and Hourly positions.
  • Ensures warehouse associate training is occurring timely.
  • Assists with the recruitment of key warehouse staff according to business needs.
  • Motivates, organizes and encourages teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met. Trains staff and monitors their performance and progress.
  • Maintains good attendance and safe work practices.
  • Maintains safeguards of confidential company information.
  • Supports the attainment of warehouse operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; assisting with the preparation of an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Manages warehouse fleet of forklift equipment.
  • Monitors warehouse expenses and recommends more efficient methods to reduce the overall cost of operations.
  • Responsible for accurate receipt and storage of product. Ensures product is properly entered into the inventory system and slotted efficiently.
  • Manages any 3PL warehousing support facilities.
  • Secures property by developing protection and access policies and procedures.
  • Manages cleaning and maintenance services (lighting & washrooms) for the office spaces located in the facilities, coordinates with and satisfies office managers.
  • Works with Landlords to maintain the property condition such that the landlord is satisfied.
  • Ensures warehouse is in compliance with all provincial and federal laws and auditor requirements.
  • Ensures all food safety compliance.
  • Achieves warehouse operations operational objectives by contributing warehouse operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends.
  • Develops warehouse operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; developing, implementing, enforcing, and evaluating policies and procedures; developing processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping.
  • Develops warehouse design by planning layout, product flow, and product handling systems, evaluating and recommending new equipment.
  • Develops warehouse operations system improvements by analyzing process workflow, manning and space requirements, and equipment layout, implementing changes.
  • Proactive communication to internal contacts regarding warehouse processes which impact customers and transportation.
  • Maximizes warehouse space and ensures efficient product slotting.
  • Troubleshoots systems issues, which affect timely delivery and/or receiving of product.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as requested.
