Loadsmart•Chicago, IL
•$120,000 - $155,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Loadsmart is hiring a Warehouse AI Orchestration Lead to extend its AI agent platform into warehouse operations. The role focuses on the handoffs and manual exception work spanning warehouse management systems (WMS), yard management systems (YMS), transportation management systems (TMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The successful candidate will bring practical warehouse operating knowledge and expertise in how WMS data and transactions move between systems. The role is part of the Product team and is based in Chicago with a hybrid work arrangement. Travel to customer sites is expected up to about 15%. The Lead will map cross-system workflows, identify and prioritize warehouse exception workflows for automation, define agent behavior and human oversight, and work with engineering to design integrations with tier-1 WMS platforms. They will work directly with distribution center operators and design-partner customers, and help sales and solutions teams scope and present warehouse use cases to enterprise customers. The listed annual salary range is $120,000–$155,000. Applicants must already be authorized to work full-time in the United States; Loadsmart will not sponsor work visas. Employment offers are contingent on successful completion of job-related electronic background checks. Loadsmart describes itself as an equal opportunity employer.

  • Experience building or specifying WMS–TMS–ERP integrations, including EDI 856/940/945, APIs, or middleware, and knowledge of production integration failure points.
  • Experience on a distribution center floor as a supervisor, engineer, analyst, or through go-lives, with understanding of how work is actually performed.
  • Product instinct, including a preference for building repeatable solutions rather than configuring separately for each customer.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and working closely with fast-moving engineering teams.

  • Document cross-system workflows from dock to stock and order to ship, identifying where events, objects, and decisions reside across WMS, YMS, TMS, and ERP.
  • Rank warehouse exception workflows by frequency, cost, and automation potential, and determine which workflows agents should handle first.
  • Define what each agent senses, decides, and does, including permitted WMS write-backs and points requiring human involvement.
  • Collaborate with engineering to design read and write integrations with tier-1 WMS platforms using APIs, events, EDI, flat files, and middleware.
  • Work directly with distribution center operators and design-partner customers, including spending time on distribution center floors.
  • Serve as the warehouse domain expert to engineering teams.
  • Help sales and solutions teams pitch and scope warehouse use cases with VPs of distribution and their IT teams.
