About The Position

On a daily basis, the position of Sewing Tech will be responsible for repairs and garment making for the Wardrobe and Costume Department. Help maintain a high standard of quality for all Park Wardrobe and Entertainment Costumes.

Requirements

• Experience as a Cutter, Fitter, Garment Maker in any Entertainment Costume related field, Theatre, Theme Parks etc. is highly desirable.
• Must have a good knowledge of Costume/Garment Construction, industrial machines and hand sewing skills.
• Knowledge of textiles, washing, and ironing are necessary.
• Must have good organizational skills and an eye for detail.
• Requires good interpersonal skills, must be polite, friendly and outgoing.
• Good verbal communication skills are important.
• Requires the ability to self-initiate activities and coordinate daily tasks, should be able to work with minimum supervision.
• Must be a team player and like working in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills are required.
• Must be able to pass a sewing test to demonstrate skills.

Nice To Haves

• Enrolment or Completion of College Education leading to a degree in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Costuming, Pattern Making, or Garment Construction is highly desirable.
• The preferred candidate would have 1 or more years of experience as a Cutter, Fitter, Garment Maker in Theme Parks, Theatre or other related field.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and repair costumes as needed
• Maintain computer records
• Maintain costume cleanliness and repair
• Provide excellent customer service to employees
• Build new Costumes for Entertainment Shows
• Hem and prepare Operational Wardrobe for MCs on an approved basis
• Assist Costumers with repair work on Character Costumes as needed
• Alter Entertainment Costumes to fit Actors/Actresses
• Perform laundry work as necessary
• Help with stock control and inventories of Wardrobe Room supplies
• Assist at Wardrobe/Uniform counter
• Perform duties and assume other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Costume/Wardrobe Manager. This may include taking on the role of a Costumer for park shows in an emergency. (Must be familiar with all shows and venues.)
• Makes sure that all sewing equipment in Workroom is clean and in proper working order
• Employees are responsible for the safety of themselves, their colleagues and guests (where appropriate), in line with the Group Policy (HS001) and the law. In particular, they must ensure that they follow safe working procedures for all work activities that they undertake and they must not use any tools or equipment for which they have not been trained. Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are reported to their line manager and must cooperate with any investigation as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations.
• Attendance is a mandatory function of this job.
