Act as the initial contact for the unit and provide supportive service by ensuring clear, concise communication, and facilitating the flow of information with other departments, the health care team, patients, visitors, and family members. The Ward Clerk will process patient registration, admissions, transfers and discharges, create, prepare and maintain patient charts, and book tests, procedures, and appointments, coordinating patient flow. They will also prepare charts for satellite, transient, and post-transplant patients, complete and adjust weekly patient schedules, and maintain MyHSN schedules for satellite staff. This role involves providing reception and general office functions, including payroll entry and scheduling, and offering assistance, guidance, and direction to patients and visitors. Additionally, the Ward Clerk will answer inquiries, relay telephone calls and messages, provide updates and reports on unit status, and order office and medical supplies as needed. The position may require coverage in other areas of the program, participation in education and training related to health and safety legislation, standards, and guidelines, and contributing to learner development through academic support, mentorship, preceptorship, and supervision. Participation in hospital training and assisting with improvement initiatives are also part of the role.
