About The Position

Piñon Health Center, part of the Indian Health Service (IHS) Chinle Service Unit, is seeking a Walk-In Physician to provide comprehensive outpatient care to approximately 11,000 patients, predominantly Navajo, in a rural setting on the Navajo Reservation in northern Arizona. The facility operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and offers a collegial environment with a multidisciplinary team providing a wide range of services. This role involves providing walk-in and urgent care services to patients of all ages, managing acute and chronic conditions, performing minor procedures, and collaborating with various healthcare professionals. A key aspect of this role is providing culturally competent care to the Native American patient population.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted medical license (Arizona license or ability to obtain).
• Current DEA registration.
• Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in primary care, urgent care, or emergency medicine.
• Experience with electronic health records.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive walk-in and urgent care services to patients of all ages presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic condition exacerbations.
• Perform physical examinations, diagnose conditions, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications.
• Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic studies including laboratory work, imaging, and point-of-care testing.
• Perform minor procedures including wound care, suturing, incision and drainage, splinting, and foreign body removal.
• Manage acute and chronic conditions commonly seen in a rural primary care and walk-in clinic setting.
• Coordinate referrals to specialty care providers and higher levels of care when clinically appropriate.
• Maintain thorough and timely clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Collaborate with nursing staff, allied health professionals, and community health representatives.
• Provide culturally competent care to a predominantly Native American patient population.
