About The Position

Performs dining server functions in an upscale dining atmosphere and other dining service duties, including maintaining clean, sanitary, and organized dining areas, facilities, and equipment. May assist with some food preparation. Provides courteous, timely service; takes and serves food and beverage orders; knows menu details, allergens, preparation methods, and drink recipes; and makes recommendations to guests. The role also supports dining room setup, food and supply handling, catering, and cleaning activities.

Requirements

At least 1 year of waiting experience in a fine dining or country club venue; 2 to 3 years preferred.
Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe instructions, diet orders, resident preference cards, and work assignments.
Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks with frequent interruptions.
Patience and tolerance toward staff, residents, and family members.
Ability to develop constructive working and interpersonal relationships with colleagues and customers.
Problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Must have or be willing to receive a Hepatitis A vaccine if working within St. Louis County, in accordance with county health regulations.
Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents and withstand temperature and humidity changes, including refrigerated storage areas and locations with ovens, ranges, dishwashing machines, and steam tables.
Must be free from infections or diseases.
Ability to lift and carry a 20-pound tray that is 27 inches long from a height of 36 inches for 100 feet; walk continuously for half a mile; push or pull a 180-pound sled 20 feet using 30 pounds of force; push a wheelchair carrying a 200-pound load for 100 feet; push or pull 30 pounds; and perform one full squat.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service that promotes satisfaction and reflects an upscale dining experience.
Take and serve food and beverage orders promptly and appropriately.
Greet customers courteously and make quick decisions to address dissatisfied customers.
Know menu details, including allergens and preparation and cooking methods, and describe them to guests.
Recommend menu items and share additional menu information with customers.
Know drink recipes and enter them into computer software.
Serve 16 or more guests at a time and recall orders upon request.
Check product quality and correct problems that could affect a guest’s experience.
Perform assigned work routines using dining service utensils, supplies, and equipment.
Assist with dining service setup, including arranging the dining room and tables, stocking buffets and service stations, preparing beverages, salads, desserts, and other food items according to recipes, and assisting at catering events.
Assist with receiving and storing food and supplies, and ensure food is served at proper temperatures and on time.
Clean dining service areas by completing daily cleaning duties, bussing tables, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing dishes, removing trash, stocking and storing items correctly, and keeping work areas clean.
