About The Position

The Vice President, Strategic Sourcing leads the enterprise procurement function, setting category strategies and optimizing end-to-end sourcing, supplier performance, and logistics services to deliver cost, service, and risk outcomes. This role partners with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to ensure a resilient supply base, scalable processes, and compliant purchasing practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10–15 years of progressive procurement and sourcing experience, including leadership roles with enterprise-scale spend responsibility.
  • Demonstrated expertise in category management (strategy development, sourcing execution, SRM, and benefits tracking).
  • Strong logistics procurement experience, including contracting and performance management for transportation and/or warehousing/3PL providers.
  • Proven negotiation capability with complex agreements (MSAs, SOWs, rate cards, SLAs, performance incentives/penalties).
  • Experience building and leading teams; ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Financial acumen with working knowledge of TCO, margin/cost drivers, and savings validation.
  • Working knowledge of procurement systems and processes (e.g., sourcing tools, P2P, ERP) and data-driven decision making.

  • MBA or master’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CIPS, CSCP, or CPIM.
  • Experience in a multi-site, multi-business-unit environment with global supplier base.
  • Familiarity with import/export, customs/brokerage, and trade compliance considerations.
  • Track record of implementing procurement operating models, policies, and digital tools (e.g., CLM, e-sourcing, spend analytics).

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute enterprise procurement strategy aligned to business goals, service commitments, and supply chain resilience.
  • Lead category management across direct and indirect spend (as applicable), including opportunity assessment, segmentation, should-cost/clean-sheet analyses, and multi-year category roadmaps.
  • Own strategic sourcing and contracting: supplier selection, negotiation, commercial terms, and contract lifecycle management in partnership with Legal and stakeholders.
  • Oversee logistics procurement and performance management for freight (inbound/outbound), warehousing/3PL, parcel, and related services; drive mode optimization, network efficiency, and on-time delivery improvements.
  • Use relevant market indices and benchmarks (e.g., commodities, labor, fuel, and freight indices) to assess price competitiveness, inform should-cost models, and support fact-based negotiations and rate reviews.
  • Establish supplier relationship management (SRM) governance, including QBRs, scorecards, corrective actions, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Implement and monitor procurement policies, controls, and compliance (e.g., delegated authority, competitive bidding, supplier onboarding, and ethical sourcing).
  • Build and lead a high-performing team; define organizational structure, roles, capability development, and succession plans.
  • Partner with Finance on planning, savings validation, and total cost of ownership (TCO) reporting; build executive-ready dashboards to track savings, cost drivers, forecast accuracy, and pipeline health.
  • Manage risk across the supply base: continuity planning, financial/geo-political exposure, quality, cyber/third-party risk, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive procurement process, data, and technology enablement (e.g., e-sourcing, P2P, contract management, spend analytics); apply AI and advanced analytics to improve cycle times, identify savings opportunities, and enhance stakeholder experience.
  • Sponsor development of data products and AI/ML use cases (e.g., demand and price forecasting, supplier risk prediction, invoice/contract anomaly detection, and freight rate benchmarking) to improve cost, service, and resilience.
  • Define standardized procurement and logistics KPI frameworks and dashboard governance (data definitions, refresh cadence, and data quality controls) spanning spend, savings, contract coverage, supplier performance, OTIF, and claims/damage.
  • Lead sustainability and supplier diversity initiatives as applicable, embedding requirements into category strategies and supplier expectations.
  • Serve as executive escalation point for critical supplier and logistics disruptions; coordinate cross-functional response and recovery.
