About The Position

Under limited supervision, this role oversees the Risk and Underwriting staff to ensure the delivery of superb service and maximize Agent and ISO retention. The incumbent personally handles more complex service situations and is responsible for hiring, training, guiding, and monitoring staff.

  • Works with sales and operations groups for accounting needs (funds transfer approvals), high transaction approvals, high authorization approvals
  • Oversees and executes management directives for changes or trending risk/underwriting situations
  • Acts as backup risk/underwriter
  • Participates in special projects
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the Risk and Underwriting staff to ensure that they provide effective and proactive merchant daily due diligence, with particular attention to adherence to policy and procedure, card brand guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
  • Works to prevent losses and ensures that Risk and Underwriting matters are promptly addressed, owned, and resolved by the team members.
  • Ensures that all matters are escalated where necessary and solves daily production problems (shadow, ADP, FDR, Tsys) when necessary.
  • Personally handles staff escalated or more complex merchant, ISO or Agent calls.
  • Hires, trains, and monitors respective team representatives; assesses their performance; and addresses performance shortcomings.
  • Maintains each department's programs and processes to minimize losses to the department for Risk, Underwriting and dispute resolution.
  • Works in conjunction with the sales and operations groups to work with ISOs and Agents for accounting needs (funds transfer approvals), e.g. high transaction approval, high authorization approvals.
  • Oversees and executes management directives for changes or trending risk/underwriting situations.
  • Acts as backup risk/underwriter to cover short-staffing situations.
  • Participates in other special projects and performs other job-related duties as assigned.
