VP, Product Marketing

Ashley Furniture Industries, FL
Onsite

About The Position

Ashley Furniture Industries is seeking a Vice President of Product Marketing to build and lead a new, foundational function at the center of how we bring products to market across our portfolio of brands and furniture categories; from upholstery and casegoods to motion and bedding. This is a rare opportunity to build a Product Marketing organization from the ground up inside the largest furniture manufacturer in America. You'll build a 3–5-person team, establish the processes and standards that connect Merchandising and Design to Creative and Marketing, and create the product content infrastructure that serves as a source of truth across the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field.
  • 12–15+ years in product marketing, brand marketing, or category leadership, ideally in home furnishings, consumer goods, or a multi-brand retail environment.
  • Demonstrated experience building a team or function from scratch, not just inheriting one.
  • Strong track record creating content standards, messaging frameworks, or product documentation that multiple teams rely on.
  • VP-level executive presence—ability to present to the C-suite and collaborate hands-on with content managers.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience working with Legal on claim substantiation and with Insights teams on research and validation.
  • Experience managing a consumer insights function or roadmap.
  • Natural collaborator who thrives working with creative, product, and commercial teams simultaneously.
  • Background in large consumer retail/house of brands such as Target, Walmart, Wayfair, RH, Williams-Sonoma, Home Depot, Steelcase, or other omnichannel home or retail leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, and lead a focused 3–5-person Product Marketing team organized around specific furniture categories and Consumer Insights.
  • Establish team processes, workflows, and standards that scale as Ashley's brand and product portfolio grow.
  • Set a high bar for talent; attract marketers who are both strategic and disciplined content operators.
  • Serve as the primary collaborator between Merchandising and Design teams to understand product intent, innovation, and seasonal priorities deeply.
  • Translate product visions into clear briefs, messaging frameworks, and positioning documents that Creative and Marketing teams can activate.
  • Ensure the product story is carried consistently from initial concept through final consumer-facing assets.
  • Own the creation and maintenance of standardized product guides, the authoritative documents that define how every product should be positioned, described, and communicated across teams.
  • Partner with Legal to ensure all product claims, feature language, and benefit statements are accurate and compliant.
  • Work with Consumer Insights to validate messaging and ground claims in real customer language and behavior.
  • Maintain version-controlled systems so that Sales, Retail Marketing, Creative, and other teams always have access to current, accurate product content.
  • Own and manage the Consumer Insights roadmap across business units—prioritizing research, studies, and data initiatives that inform product, positioning, and GTM decisions.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to surface insights that shape merchandising priorities, creative direction, and channel strategy.
  • Ensure insights are synthesized and socialized in formats that drive action—not just reports that sit on a shelf.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across Merchandising, Design, Creative, Marketing, Legal, and Sales.
  • Navigate a matrixed organization with clarity and influence, driving alignment without always having direct authority.
  • Represent the Product Marketing function in enterprise planning conversations, ensuring the team's work and priorities are visible and valued.
