About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Portfolio Strategy, this position plays a critical leadership role in managing mortgage servicing portfolio activities across Pennymac’s MSR and sub-servicing assets. This position focuses on executing strategies designed to increase revenue, minimize losses, and improve investment returns across government, conventional, whole loans, and junior mortgages. The VP, Portfolio Strategy must possess a strong working knowledge of mortgage servicing and capital markets. This position requires applying financial, operational, and statistical competencies to implement best execution strategies developed by senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics). MBA preferred.
  • 7-10 years progressive experience in the financial industry. Mortgage or fixed income highly preferred.
  • Expert in MS Excel and in manipulating large data sets.
  • Experience with relational databases, data analysis, and business intelligence tools.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, mathematical skills, and financial acumen.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the oversight of mortgage portfolios and strategies, ensuring active collaboration with Default Servicing, Non Default Servicing, Credit, Compliance, and Capital Markets.
  • Execute and monitor portfolio management routines and develop monthly reporting / dashboards to present to executive leadership.
  • Support the development and implementation of strategies (Early Buy Out, Credit Risk Transfer, Late Stage Delinquency etc.) to optimize the return for loans.
  • Oversee development and regular maintenance of credit models used by different groups in Servicing.
  • Direct routine economic and financial analysis, including forecasting of Servicing activities.
  • Lead the day-to-day analysis of investor requirements and oversee financial modeling to optimize loss mitigation programs for government, conventional, and whole loans.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of 3-5 Analysts and Managers and is responsible for new Analyst development.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
