About The Position

Stepful is seeking a VP, Operations to lead the Strategy and Operations function for its degree programs, including Nursing, Imaging, and Respiratory programs housed under Stepful College. Degree programs have more regulation, longer timelines, and higher clinical-site requirements than certificate programs. The VP will own the operating model for scaling degree programs while maintaining outcome quality, student satisfaction, and compliance. The VP will lead strategy, organizational design, budget, and contributions to Stepful’s growth. They will lead a layered team of Operations Directors and Clinical Leaders, setting direction, standards, and operating rhythms that enable the degree programs to scale. The position reports to the SVP, Operations and is hybrid in New York City, with regular travel to campuses and clinical sites.

Requirements

12+ years of experience, including 5+ years leading multi-layered organizations (managers of managers) in operations or program leadership.
Track record of owning a department or business unit, including its strategy, budget, and organizational design, and scaling it through significant growth.
Experience leading regulated, licensure-track education programs, such as nursing or allied health, including direct work with state boards and accreditors.
Ability to drive workflows across multiple domains simultaneously and build operating systems that enable leaders to work independently.
Executive communication skills, including clear, concise writing and the ability to align executives, regulators, faculty, and employer partners.
Highly analytical, data-driven approach to diagnosing problems and making decisions.
Comfort leading in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment, with willingness to get into the details when needed.
Genuine curiosity about AI and a habit of experimenting with it to improve team workflows.

Nice To Haves

Experience at a high-growth startup or venture-backed healthcare or EdTech company.
Clinical background, such as RN or registered radiologic technologist.
Experience running multi-state or multi-campus operations, launching new campuses, or integrating acquired schools.
Advanced degree, such as MBA, MSN, or EdD.

Responsibilities

Lead and evolve Stepful College’s operating model, currently organized by Schools (Nursing, Imaging, and Respiratory), each led by an Ops Director in partnership with Clinical and Academic Leaders and Faculty.
Set the strategy for delivering degree programs at high quality and scale, and establish an operating cadence that enables School Leads to run their schools independently while overseeing the full portfolio.
Own the department’s budget and resource allocation, making tradeoffs across schools and geographies.
Design the department’s organization as it grows, including determining where to add leadership layers and which senior roles to hire next.
Lead, coach, and set clear performance and accountability expectations for Operations and Clinical Leaders who own their programs end to end.
Partner with Learning, Product, Legal, Growth, and Workforce Solutions to grow enrollment, deliver an exceptional student experience, and meet healthcare employer partners’ needs.
Drive AI adoption across schools.
