About The Position

Leading a regional team with expertise in operations and sales, the Vice President is accountable for achieving financial performance targets, driving occupancy and revenue growth, delivering an exceptional resident experience, fostering employee engagement, and ensuring effective risk and reputation management. The role works closely with corporate leaders across sales, operations, marketing, communications, resident care, food services, asset management, lifestyle and programs, and human resources to support operational excellence and strategic execution. The Vice President is a member of the Senior Operations Team and reports to the Senior Vice President, Operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in seniors housing, hospitality, healthcare, or a related service industry.
  • Proven experience driving operational, financial, and sales performance.
  • Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams in a customer-focused environment.
  • Strong track record in employee engagement, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Post-secondary education in business, hospitality, healthcare administration, or a related field.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including budgeting and financial analysis.
  • Demonstrated operational leadership and strategic sales capability.
  • Ability to drive accountability and performance results.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and team development skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the delivery of the Chartwell Experience across all residences within the platform.
  • Address and resolve escalated resident and family concerns, including matters arising from inspections or regulatory reviews.
  • Ensure resident satisfaction survey results are reviewed and action plans are developed and implemented to support continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess service quality and engage with General Managers, residents, families, and team members.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to regional Directors and Managers within Chartwell’s culture of accountability and performance.
  • Participate as a member of the Senior Operations Committee and represent operations on corporate committees and initiatives as required.
  • Communicate and support the execution of corporate strategies, initiatives, and operational priorities across the platform.
  • Lead recruitment, succession planning, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Participate in the final selection process for General Manager hires.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and ensure action plans are implemented following engagement survey results.
  • Lead the development of annual operating and capital budgets for the platform.
  • Monitor financial performance and hold teams accountable for achieving budget and operational targets.
  • Ensure effective financial controls and operational systems are maintained across residences.
  • Identify and communicate financial risks, opportunities, and operational impacts.
  • Participate in due diligence activities related to acquisitions and approve acquisition proformas as required.
  • Drive the execution of Chartwell’s sales and occupancy strategies across the platform.
  • Ensure community outreach and local marketing plans are effectively implemented at the residence level.
  • Review and monitor sales KPIs, conversion metrics, and occupancy performance to ensure accountability and achievement of revenue targets.
  • Ensure residences operate in accordance with Chartwell policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Support the successful implementation of corporate initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Oversee asset management and capital projects to ensure properties are maintained to Chartwell standards.
  • Ensuring that the homes are managed in accordance with Chartwell’s policies, procedures, administrative systems, and overall expectations
  • Ensuring that new initiatives are effectively implemented
  • Ensuring that the property assets are well maintained and that capital projects are executed in an effective and timely manner
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Vice President, Retirement Operations
