About The Position

The Vice President of Sales is responsible for defining and executing the organization’s sales strategy to drive revenue growth, market expansion, and customer acquisition for Garden State Growers. To be successful, this person must be able to facilitate effective collaboration with account leaders, merchandising teams, and supply chain with a focus on revenue growth, profit margins, and customer relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Sales, Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, preferably within the agriculture, horticulture, or consumer packaged goods industries.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and growing major retail accounts (e.g., big-box home improvement, grocery, and warehouse clubs).
  • Exceptional strategic planning and execution skills with a strong financial acumen.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze market trends, pricing strategies, and competitive landscapes to inform business decisions.
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
  • Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing and managing pay-by-scan or vendor-managed inventory programs is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual topline sales and profitability plan for Garden State Growers to achieve company revenue goals.
  • Develop a comprehensive 3-year sales growth plan.
  • Manage and optimize large-scale retail partnerships.
  • Develop sales plans for season readiness and retailer program/promotional execution.
  • Directly manage the team of Sales Directors and national sales representatives.
  • Develop team capabilities and coach individuals to ensure success and team sustainability through training, succession planning, talent attraction, and retention.
  • Manage sales after-action reviews to determine the success and ROI of sales activities for optimization in coordination with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Monitor, document, and communicate competitive activity in the market, including retail price points, promotional activity, and product introductions across all retailers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and external industry partners, and lead negotiations for major, critical accounts.
  • Provide support and oversight for budget development to ensure adequate resources for sales teams, programs, and initiatives.
