VP of Products & Platform - AI/Security

OPSWATSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

OPSWAT is seeking a VP of Products & Platform to lead the transformation of its foundational platform, MetaDefender Core, Enterprise Shared Services, and Platform Architecture. This role is crucial for establishing File Security as a distinct market category and driving an AI-first operational model across the company. The VP will own the most horizontally impactful technology, influencing how every product in the MetaDefender portfolio ships, deploys, and operates. This is a hands-on strategy role, requiring close collaboration with engineering teams and a deep understanding of enterprise software deployment in complex, regulated environments.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in platform engineering, developer platforms, or infrastructure product management, with 5+ years in senior leadership owning platform strategy.
  • AI-first product leadership with demonstrated use of AI/agentic systems as a product surface and operating model.
  • Working fluency in LLM evaluation, agentic design, human-in-the-loop, and AI failure modes.
  • Customer-deployed software depth, understanding the complexities of on-prem upgrades, air-gapped installs, and enterprise change management.
  • Architectural fluency across Kubernetes, containerization, IaaS (AWS/Azure/GCP), and traditional on-prem.
  • File Security depth beyond antivirus, understanding the layered discipline of securing the enterprise file ecosystem.
  • Earned-adoption track record for internal platforms.
  • Enterprise software acumen including SSO/SAML/OIDC, RBAC, multi-tenancy, audit logging, zero-downtime deployments, and observability.
  • Strong communication and internal selling skills to align peer PMs, convince engineering leads, and present strategy to executive leadership.
  • Metrics-driven leadership, defining KPIs for adoption, performance, scalability, and customer impact.
  • Curiosity, ownership, and bias for action, balancing speed with architectural rigor and resilience.

Nice To Haves

  • Category creation experience.
  • Experience growing a platform or product into a named market with its own P&L.
  • Data pipeline / high-volume processing experience (ETL, iPaaS, RPA, or file-processing systems).
  • Cybersecurity or critical infrastructure experience, including compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST, Common Criteria), regulated deployments, and security-first architecture.
  • Experience scaling a platform from partial to full adoption across a portfolio.
  • Experience with open-source / inner-source model contribution frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical vision for MetaDefender Core's evolution, including modular multi-engine orchestration, processing throughput, format coverage, and API extensibility.
  • Frame MetaDefender Core as the engine of File Security, articulating the need for layered, defense-in-depth file analysis beyond single-engine antivirus.
  • Drive strategy to serve new file modalities, archives, encrypted containers, firmware, and ML/AI model files.
  • Ensure Core's architecture enables adjacent products rather than constraining them.
  • Shape the growth trajectory of Enterprise Shared Services, making adoption a willing choice for product teams.
  • Own the strategy, developer experience, and adoption outcome for Enterprise Shared Services, which includes installation & deployment, identity & access, configuration & policy, observability, reporting & audit, HA/DR, and zero-downtime scale.
  • Make agentic capability a native primitive of the platform, exposed to product teams as a service.
  • Embed AI across the operational surface: triage, configuration, deployment, observability, and customer time-to-value.
  • Use AI to drive organizational change, accelerating engineering velocity, internal adoption, documentation, and decision speed.
  • Define where human-in-the-loop is mandatory, design for AI failure modes, and prevent "AI theater."
  • Treat the platform as a business, owning the narrative, positioning, and ultimately the P&L.
  • Define and lead the File Security category, establishing OPSWAT as the default answer.
  • Translate platform capability into enterprise buyer value and pricing leverage.
  • Audit and roadmap Shared Services adoption, Core architecture, deployment tooling, and AI/agentic surface within the first 3 months.
  • Establish the platform team as an internal product organization and build relationships with product and engineering leads within 3-6 months.
  • Drive measurable Shared Services adoption, modernize Core, and establish deployment patterns and agentic workflows within 6-12 months.

Benefits

  • Global leader in IT, OT, and ICS critical infrastructure cybersecurity.
  • Opportunity to shape a distinct market category.
  • AI-first mandate with the ability to drive organizational change.
  • Directly influence every product in the MetaDefender portfolio.
  • Work alongside peers who are close to the technology.
  • Collaborate with 2 dedicated engineering teams (40+ headcount).
  • Influence platform adoption across 12+ peer engineering teams globally.
  • Equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
