About The Position

At Ferraro Foods, we are more than a distributor. For nearly 50 years, we have partnered with customers across the food industry to deliver quality ingredients and build lasting relationships. We are seeking a Vice President of Procurement and Merchandising to lead our sourcing, category management, and product strategy across the organization. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving profitability, strengthening supplier partnerships, and shaping the future of our product portfolio.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in procurement, merchandising, or category management
  • Proven ability to lead Category Management and or Buying teams
  • Strong background in supplier negotiations, sourcing strategy, and cost management
  • Demonstrated ownership of financial performance including margin and P&L
  • Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate data into business decisions
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in food distribution, wholesale, or related industry
  • Knowledge of specialty or imported food categories
  • Background in private label development or exclusive sourcing strategies
  • Experience working in high-growth environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise-wide procurement, sourcing, and merchandising strategy aligned with company growth goals
  • Own category performance including assortment, pricing, promotions, and overall profitability
  • Build and develop high-performing Category Management and Buying teams
  • Establish and strengthen supplier relationships, negotiating programs, pricing, and contracts
  • Drive private label and exclusive product development to differentiate our portfolio
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Marketing
  • Leverage data and analytics to guide purchasing decisions, demand planning, and inventory strategy
  • Oversee budgets including purchasing and marketing income, cost controls, and margin optimization
  • Monitor market trends, customer demand, and competitive activity to evolve product strategy
  • Lead inventory planning to ensure strong service levels and operational efficiency
