About The Position

The Greater Phoenix Chamber and Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation seek an innovative, strategic, and results-oriented leader to serve as Vice President of Marketing and Communications. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies focused on brand positioning, storytelling, and messaging, with a strong emphasis on data, metrics, and measurable outcomes, while supporting fundraising initiatives. This executive will demonstrate expertise in media relations, crisis communications, digital strategy, and data-driven analytics, as well as exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. A commitment to team development, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement is essential for advancing the missions of both the Chamber and the Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation. This role is responsible for leading the strategic vision, planning, and execution of all marketing, communications, and public relations activities for the Greater Phoenix Chamber and the Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation with a cross-functional team of staff and partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in marketing and communications leadership roles, preferably in nonprofit, chamber, or foundation settings.
  • Established history of leadership in effective, results-driven teams.
  • Demonstrated success supporting integrated marketing campaigns, including fundraising initiatives.
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive decision-making and measure campaign performance.
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI platforms for marketing and communications.
  • Proven track record in media relations, crisis communications, and digital strategy.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with marketing analytics platforms.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and communications strategies for the Greater Phoenix Chamber and Greater Phoenix Chamber Foundation, aligned with organizational goals, including membership, events, and programs.
  • Lead the creation of editorial calendars, communications campaigns, and strategic partnerships to amplify thought leadership and impact.
  • Collaborate with Chamber and Foundation leadership to ensure consistent messaging and alignment across all initiatives.
  • Partner with internal teams to support membership acquisition, retention, and event attendance through targeted, data-driven marketing strategies.
  • Lead brand strategy and positioning to reinforce the Chamber as the voice of business in Greater Phoenix.
  • Develop clear, compelling messaging and storytelling across all channels.
  • Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and messaging across the Chamber and Foundation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets, reporters, and PR consultants/agency.
  • Oversee and manage the Chamber’s PR agency to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and maximize media impact.
  • Draft and approve press releases, media kits, public statements and responses to press inquiries.
  • Develop/approve and distribute talking points for executives and staff in preparation for interviews or public remarks.
  • Drive earned media, op-eds, and strategic media outreach to elevate the Chamber’s visibility and influence.
  • Oversee crisis communications planning and execution.
  • Position and reinforce the Chamber as the trusted voice of business through proactive communications and thought leadership.
  • Oversee websites, social media, podcast, video, and newsletter strategies to increase engagement and reach.
  • Segment target audiences and curate engaging content for each channel.
  • Lead ongoing SEO implementation and collateral audits to ensure messaging effectiveness.
  • Oversee website optimization and user experience to improve conversion (membership, events, engagement).
  • Develop and deliver regular reporting on digital and content performance to assess effectiveness and inform optimization.
  • Establish and monitor quarterly/annual metrics for web traffic, social media engagement/followers, podcast downloads, earned media reach/story count, newsletter open/click rates, and video metrics.
  • Use data analytics to inform decision-making and optimize campaign performance.
  • Define KPIs tied to membership growth, event performance, podcast and campaign ROI.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to leadership to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Develop and execute paid media strategies (LinkedIn, Meta, and other platforms) to support membership growth and fundraising initiatives.
  • Manage and optimize campaign performance through targeting, testing, and ongoing optimization.
  • Negotiate and manage trade agreements with media partners (radio, TV, digital, and outdoor) to support marketing campaigns and maximize value.
  • Support large-scale fundraising campaigns, including donor communications, stewardship, and campaign analytics.
  • Develop compelling pitches and media strategies to attract support from national funders and diverse donor audiences.
  • Partner with development teams to maximize fundraising outcomes and donor engagement.
  • Integrate emerging tools, including AI, into marketing and communications workflows for content creation, personalization, and campaign optimization.
  • Evaluate, implement, and train staff on emerging AI tools to enhance departmental efficiency, creativity, and audience engagement.
  • Stay current with trends in AI, digital marketing, and communications technology.
  • Mentor and develop marketing and communications team members, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support individual growth and leadership development within the department.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including business leaders, policymakers, community partners, and members.
