About The Position

Nightfall is seeking a VP of Marketing to lead its marketing function at a well-funded Series B company. This role offers a unique opportunity to be the first true marketing leader, reporting directly to the CEO, and building the marketing function from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in B2B SaaS marketing, particularly in building and scaling marketing engines at early-stage companies. This position requires deep experience in demand generation, field marketing, product marketing, brand building, and managing budgets, with a strong emphasis on using AI tools to enhance marketing operations. The role is crucial for owning the AI security category and driving Nightfall's growth in a rapidly evolving market.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of B2B SaaS marketing experience.
  • At least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role (VP or equivalent) owning at least one marketing function fully.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling a marketing engine at a Series A or Series B company.
  • Deep experience in demand generation and pipeline ownership, comfortable being held accountable to revenue metrics.
  • Strong field marketing experience, including building event and field strategies that drive measurable pipeline.
  • Experience owning or overseeing product marketing (positioning, sales enablement, competitive intelligence).
  • Hands-on experience managing a marketing budget and making ROI-driven allocation decisions.
  • Experience owning a company website as a marketing and conversion asset.
  • PR and analyst relations experience (managing agency relationships, briefing analysts, building external communications strategy).
  • Proficiency with AI tools across the marketing workflow.
  • Experience in cybersecurity, data security, AI, or a closely adjacent technical B2B category strongly preferred.
  • A builder mentality, energized by creating a category.
  • Strong communicator and storyteller, able to write compelling narratives, brief agencies, and present to a board.
  • Experience managing and developing a small, high-performing marketing team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own the overall marketing strategy and roadmap, including brand positioning, category narrative, integrated campaign planning, and budget allocation.
  • Translate company goals into a prioritized marketing plan for the team.
  • Set the vision for the Growth Marketer and Head of Content and Narrative Strategy, ensuring alignment with revenue and company goals.
  • Partner with CRO and sales leadership to own top-of-funnel pipeline generation, overseeing paid acquisition, ABM, email marketing, conversion optimization, and inbound strategy.
  • Hold the team accountable to closed-won pipeline targets.
  • Build and own Nightfall's field marketing motion, including events, conferences, executive roundtables, and partner-led programs.
  • Define event strategy and ensure measurable outcomes for field spend.
  • Own the product marketing function, including competitive positioning, battlecards, sales enablement materials, and go-to-market launch planning.
  • Ensure the market understands Nightfall's value proposition and competitive advantages.
  • Partner with the Head of Content and Narrative Strategy to establish a clear and compelling point of view in the AI security market.
  • Own the Nightfall website as a marketing asset, ensuring clear communication of value proposition and lead conversion.
  • Optimize the conversion path from first touch to demo request.
  • Own Nightfall's external communications strategy, including press releases, media relationships, thought leadership, and agency management.
  • Build and manage relationships with industry analysts.
  • Lead by example in building an AI-native marketing function, utilizing AI tools across the marketing workflow.
  • Own and manage the full marketing budget, making allocation decisions based on ROI and pipeline contribution.
  • Report on budget performance to the CEO.
  • Lead, develop, and grow the marketing team, fostering a culture of accountability, creativity, and commercial focus.
  • Work closely with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to align marketing strategy with revenue goals, product launches, and customer retention.
  • Act as a trusted partner to the CEO on go-to-market decisions and company positioning.
