About The Position

The Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management provides strategic direction to Executive Leadership and leads Sundt’s enterprise-wide risk management function. The role owns the strategy, market relationships, and performance of the company’s insurance and risk-financing program, including insurance structure and placement, cost containment, reserves, and the effective use of company assets for risk management. Potential approaches include self-insured retentions, large-deductible and retrospective-rating programs, controlled insurance (wrap-up) programs, aggregate stop-loss protection, parametric covers, captive or cell arrangements, and fronting policies. This is a build-and-own leadership role rather than a program-administration role. The VP will build, lead, and scale the Insurance and Risk Management department, develop business-group-aligned insurance administration, lead annual renewals, oversee cost and claims matters within delegated authority, and report exposure and program performance to senior executives and the board. The General Counsel retains ultimate settlement and reserve authority.

  • Experience building or scaling a risk and insurance team.
  • Experience owning a corporate insurance program and advising executives on alternative risk-management or risk-financing structures, rather than merely administering coverage placed by others.
  • Comfort advising and presenting at the executive and board level.
