VP of Insurance & Risk Management

Sundt Construction•Tempe, AZ

About The Position

The Vice President of Insurance and Risk Management provides strategic direction for the enterprise and Executive Leadership on the company’s risk management function. The role owns the strategy, market relationships, and performance of the insurance and risk-financing program, including insurance structure and strategy, placement, cost containment, reserve management, and effective use of company assets for risk management. Risk-spreading structures may include self-insured retentions, large-deductible and retrospective-rating programs, controlled insurance (wrap-up) programs, aggregate stop-loss protection, parametric covers, captive or cell arrangements, and fronting policies. This is a build-and-own leadership role rather than a program-administration role. The Vice President will build, lead, and scale the Insurance and Risk Management department, including claims management, business-group-aligned insurance administration, systems, and analytics. The role leads the annual insurance renewal, manages broker and carrier relationships, advises executives on insurance and risk-financing alternatives, and reports risk exposure and program performance to senior executives and the board. The position leads the Insurance and Risk Management department and guides its scaling requirements across the enterprise.
