VP of Finance

TeleportSan Francisco, CA

About The Position

Teleport is the AI Infrastructure Identity Company, focused on securing infrastructure for an AI world by providing cryptographically secured identities to every human, machine, workload, and AI agent. This remote-first company works with major organizations like Nasdaq, IBM, DoorDash, and Elastic. The VP of Finance will be the senior financial executive reporting to the COO, responsible for corporate finance functions including FP&A, accounting, strategic planning, board reporting, and IPO-readiness. This role involves managing a finance team, building scalable systems and processes for an infrastructure as a service business, and acting as a strategic advisor. It's a high-ownership position for a builder comfortable with both strategic and detailed financial work, capable of translating complex data into strategic guidance and scaling a finance function with technology. There is potential for growth into the CFO role.

Requirements

  • 18+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with significant time as VP of Finance, CFO, or equivalent senior finance executive.
  • Proven record of success at a high-growth B2B Cybersecurity, SaaS or infrastructure technology company; open-source or developer-tools experience is a meaningful plus.
  • Strong command of GAAP accounting, SaaS financial metrics, financial controls, and audit processes.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a company through key inflection points — Series C+, late-stage private, or IPO preparation.
  • Outstanding communication skills — able to present complex financial matters to executive teams, boards, and investors with confidence and clarity.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing, geographically distributed finance teams.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating, selecting, and scaling financial systems (NetSuite, Workday, Adaptive Insights, or comparable platforms).
  • Collaborative, data-driven decision-maker who thrives in a fast-moving, distributed environment.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA, CFA, or MBA from a leading program.
  • Experience taking a company through late stage private funding stages and IPO.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to the COO and CEO, bringing a financial lens to company-level decisions on market positioning, competitive strategy, pricing, geographic expansion, and capital allocation.
  • Co-own the company’s long-range strategic plan alongside executive leadership, shaping not just the financial expression of strategy but the strategy itself.
  • Identify the financial and operational levers that drive sustainable growth, and advocate for resource allocation decisions that reflect Teleport’s most important strategic bets.
  • Own the annual planning and quarterly forecasting cycles, delivering accurate, driver-based financial models across revenue, cost, and headcount.
  • Lead scenario analysis and sensitivity modeling to pressure-test strategic options and support key investment decisions.
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for the COO, CEO, and Board of Directors by connecting day-to-day performance to long-term strategic goals.
  • Oversee all accounting operations including monthly close, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and financial statement preparation.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and audit readiness.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Prepare board-level financial packages, investor updates, and management reporting with clarity and precision.
  • Support fundraising, debt financing, and M&A diligence processes as needed.
  • Develop the financial narrative for investors and analysts, underpinned by robust SaaS metrics.
  • Partner closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and People leaders to drive financial accountability across the business.
  • Own financial metrics and provide regular performance analyses.
  • Support revenue operations, pricing strategy, and go-to-market financial planning.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team including FP&A, accounting, and revenue operations.
  • Drive the selection, implementation, and optimization of financial systems and tools (ERP, FP&A platforms, billing infrastructure).
  • Build scalable, automated financial processes that support rapid growth and eventual public-company readiness.
  • Champion and model the use of AI and modern technology tools — actively embedding automation, AI-assisted analysis, and intelligent workflows into finance operations to move faster, reduce manual work, and raise the quality of output.
  • Set the standard for technology fluency on the finance team: encourage experimentation with tools like Claude and other AI systems for modeling, reporting, and documentation, and create space for the team to share what works.
