About The Position

The Vice President of Finance is Keel’s senior financial leader, overseeing accounting operations, program finance, and internal controls. The role provides strategic direction for the company’s financial infrastructure and partners with the CFO and executive leadership on long-term planning, financial performance, and operational excellence. It leads accounting, reporting, and financial shared services, while mentoring and managing the finance team and ensuring monthly reporting deadlines and compliance requirements are met. The VP of Finance oversees accounting, tax, program finance, financial reporting, and internal control functions. Responsibilities span accounting operations and consolidated reporting; budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, and decision support; government-contract audit readiness and compliance; and internal controls and risk management. The role is based at Keel’s corporate headquarters in Ladson, South Carolina, with approximately 15% travel to company locations.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA or equivalent experience required.
At least 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including controller-level responsibilities.
Strong Excel and data analytics capabilities.
Experience building teams, leading, and executing.
Ability to meet the role’s physical requirements, including regularly standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping or kneeling, and occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Experience with companies generating more than $100 million in annual revenue is preferred.
Manufacturing experience is sought after.
Extensive knowledge of government contract accounting, FAR/DFARS, CAS, and DCAA audit environments is valued.
Extensive experience with ASC 606, Revenue from Contracts with Customers, is preferred.
Earned Value experience is desired.
Demonstrable experience with financial systems integrations.
Private equity experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Advise the CFO and executive leadership on strategic planning and long-term decisions.
Lead accounting, tax, program finance, financial reporting, and internal control functions.
Provide financial insights through analysis, forecasting, trend evaluation, and performance monitoring.
Improve and modernize financial systems and processes.
Communicate financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
Recruit, develop, mentor, and lead accounting and finance teams.
Partner with operations, supply chain, program management, and engineering to improve cost visibility and support business decisions.
Oversee accounting operations, including accounts receivable and payable, payroll, tax, intercompany accounting, program finance, and technical accounting.
Manage general ledger activities, month-end close, and consolidated financial reporting.
Prepare and ensure timely, accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements and disclosures.
Manage cost accounting, inventory valuation, and variance analysis in a manufacturing environment.
Develop and maintain methods for tracking revenue, expenses, and overall financial performance.
Oversee the organization’s investment plan and insurance programs.
Audit transactions, expenditures, assets, and liabilities regularly.
Analyze financial data for budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, and decision support.
Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and industry-specific requirements.
Support organizational growth and profitability through planning, modeling, and financial controls.
Provide timely and accurate financial reports to internal stakeholders, regulators, and external agencies.
Lead annual external audits in accordance with U.S. GAAP and corporate accounting policies.
Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, CAS, and DCAA requirements.
Develop, manage, and monitor indirect rate structures and related allocations, including overhead, G&A, fringe, and service centers.
Maintain documentation, policies, and internal controls for audit readiness and rate compliance.
Oversee an approved Earned Value Management framework.
Support external, internal, and customer audits with complete, transparent documentation.
Manage compliance with DFARS 252.242-7005 Contractor Business Systems, including Accounting, Estimating, and MMAS.
Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.
Lead internal control assessments, risk mitigation initiatives, and remediation plans.
Implement and monitor SOX-style controls or equivalent frameworks.
Meet monthly deadlines for reporting financial results and compliance requirements.
Travel approximately 15% to designated company locations.
