About The Position

Ironsite is seeking its first VP of Finance to establish and scale the finance function, supporting the company's growth from a Series A startup to a category-defining hardware, software, and AI company. This role encompasses accounting operations, financial planning, internal controls, and corporate development. This is a hands-on role for an individual who has prior experience building a finance function at a hardware company and possesses the ambition to shape Ironsite's growth over the next decade. The ideal candidate will have deep operational finance experience in hardware with recurring revenue, the ability to build a scalable accounting, planning, and controls foundation, and strategic instincts for corporate development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience
  • At least 5 years in a senior finance role at a hardware company with recurring revenue
  • Deep experience with hardware product finance, including cost accounting, BOM management, NPI financial support, and gross margin optimization
  • Strong experience with recurring revenue business models, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), ARR reporting, and subscription unit economics
  • Hands-on experience owning the full finance function at a Series A through Series C company, including budgeting, forecasting, close, audit, and board reporting
  • Demonstrated experience deploying and administering modern ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred), including financial modules, cost accounting, and inventory integration
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting standards, internal controls, and compliance requirements, with SOX experience or SOX-readiness experience
  • Corporate development instinct: experience as part of an M&A team, led financial diligence on acquisitions, or structured strategic partnerships with material commercial terms
  • Track record of building or scaling a finance function, including hiring and mentoring accounting and FP&A talent
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort building financial models from first principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a hardware company that scaled from early production through multiple product generations and multiple financing rounds
  • Experience leading or supporting M&A transactions from origination through close (financial diligence, deal structuring, integration planning)
  • Experience preparing a company for larger financing events (later-stage rounds, growth equity, or eventual IPO readiness)
  • Prior experience as a founding or early finance hire at a startup that scaled meaningfully
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • CPA or MBA is a plus
  • Familiarity with construction, industrial, or field-services businesses
  • Experience with international operations, supply chain finance, or contract manufacturing partnerships
  • Prior investment banking, private equity, or venture capital experience
  • Experience with data licensing or partnership deal structures where the commercial terms are non-standard

  • Oversee general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, revenue recognition, and cash management.
  • Prepare and review financial statements for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, focusing on speed, accuracy, and reporting quality.
  • Own recurring revenue accounting and key operational metrics (ARR, gross margin, cash burn, LTV, CAC, retention).
  • Act as a core team member in the NPI process, representing finance and cost accounting.
  • Maintain and improve product cost projections for budgeting, reporting, and pricing strategy.
  • Partner with supply chain, manufacturing engineering, and product leadership on cost tracking, BOM analysis, and gross margin optimization.
  • Implement and maintain scalable internal controls, preparing for SOX readiness.

  • Build financial reporting infrastructure for real-time leadership visibility.
  • Design and implement systems, processes, and controls for finance function scalability.
  • Serve as the CEO's strategic finance partner on capital allocation, fundraising, and inorganic growth.
  • Identify, evaluate, structure, and execute acquisitions.
  • Lead financial diligence on partnership and M&A opportunities.
