About The Position

The Vice President of Finance is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational performance of financial functions across the orthopedic hospital system and ambulatory operations. Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Finance directs financial planning, reporting, and operational finance functions while partnering with clinical and administrative leaders to drive fiscal performance, margin improvement, and long-term sustainability in a complex, highly regulated environment. Key Departments of Finance, Accounting, Materials Management, Information Technology, and Contracts will report to this experienced leader. The high-performing leader must be capable of building a modern, data-driven finance team that supports long-term organizational growth while also collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to create success. Candidate must be comfortable with the evolving technology landscape and how that will play a critical role in healthcare transformation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in healthcare or hospital finance.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare financial regulations, reimbursement models, and revenue cycle management.
  • Proven track record of driving financial performance and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, or HFMA certification is a plus.
  • Experience in managing large-scale budgets in a multi-hospital system preferred.
  • Knowledge of value-based care and population health financial strategies preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare ERP and financial management systems (e.g., Epic, Oracle, Workday) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the health system’s long-term goals.
  • Provide leadership in financial planning, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to support business development, strategic initiatives, and capital investment decisions.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, revenue cycle management, and cost containment initiatives.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Ensure strong financial controls and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Manage payer contract negotiations and reimbursement strategies to maximize revenue.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
  • Monitor financial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards.
  • Lead and mentor multiple departments, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Build and develop a high-performing team to support successful finance and operations components.
  • Promote collaboration across departments to improve financial processes and patient care efficiency.
