VP of Engineering, Ground Hardware

AnySignal•Los Angeles, CA

About The Position

AnySignal is hiring a VP of Engineering to lead its physical ground segment, including antenna systems, RF, manufacturing, deployment, and the engineering organization responsible for these areas. The central challenge is scaling from individual antenna deployments to a repeatable, manufacturable product that can be deployed increasingly quickly. The role owns the strategy and outcomes for the physical segment while remaining technically engaged in design reviews and engineering decisions. The VP will oversee the pipeline from hardware build through site integration, installation, and commissioning, with success measured by antennas deployed and operating. They will guide design maturity, manufacturability, production readiness, test strategy, supply-chain development, vendor and production-partner choices, and the trade-offs among performance, cost, and schedule. RF work falls within the organization, and the leader must be able to direct that work and make integration decisions across RF, mechanical, and software disciplines. The role also includes substantially growing and structuring the hardware and deployment team, hiring across mechanical, RF, and field engineering, setting technical standards, and defining the roadmap from current antenna deployments toward full ground-station buildouts as the network matures. AnySignal seeks a technically credible, hands-on leader with experience taking electromechanical hardware from prototype through repeatable production and field deployment, including deployment in uncontrolled outdoor environments.

Requirements

  • Background as a mechanical or systems engineer.
  • Experience shipping ambitious electromechanical hardware, such as systems involving motors, precision motion, and outdoor structures.
  • Experience taking hardware from working prototype to repeatable production and field deployment.
  • Experience building and leading hardware organizations while remaining technically credible and able to discuss shipped systems in depth.
  • Experience deploying hardware in uncontrolled environments, including weather, remote sites, and real installation logistics.
  • Ability to direct RF work and hire RF talent; RF need not be the candidate's primary discipline.
  • Must meet U.S. Government space technology export-control eligibility requirements: be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct antenna or ground-station experience.
  • Experience with pointing and tracking systems, gimbals, positioners, outdoor robotics, or satellite communications hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the physical ground segment, including antenna systems, RF, manufacturing, deployment, and the associated engineering team.
  • Own deployment throughput from hardware build through site integration, installation, and commissioning.
  • Drive manufacturability and production readiness, including design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA), test strategy, reliable repeatable builds, and reasonable production cost.
  • Partner on system architecture and detailed design; identify field and manufacturing risks and make trade-offs among performance, cost, and schedule.
  • Direct ground-segment RF work and make integration trade-offs across RF, mechanical, and software systems.
  • Develop supply-chain and manufacturing strategy, including vendor selection, make-or-buy decisions, and production partnerships.
  • Grow and structure the hardware and deployment organization; hire across mechanical, RF, and field engineering, and set the technical bar.
  • Set the technical roadmap from antenna deployments toward full ground-station buildouts.
  • Set strategy for the physical segment and own its outcomes while remaining engaged in technical decisions and design reviews.
