TRM Labs
•$195,000 - $255,000•Remote

About The Position

The VP of Communications will own TRM Labs’ corporate narrative, earned communications channels, and the voices that represent the company. The role will establish a dedicated communications function by consolidating responsibilities currently shared across the team, and will develop proactive narratives about how AI is changing crime and how it can be fought. The goal is for the market, media, analysts, prospective talent, and investors to look to TRM for a definitive perspective on AI and crime, the capacity gap facing crimefighters, and how that gap can be closed. This senior leadership role sits within Brand & Communications and reports to the Chief Brand Officer. It works closely with Policy, Insights, Product Marketing, Brand/Content, company leadership, and subject-matter experts. The VP will manage TRM’s PR agency and an APAC-based communications lead (contractor) from day one, with the potential to build a team as the function grows. The position is US-based and distributed, with core overlap across US business hours. The role includes occasional, low-to-moderate travel for media, executive events, and team offsites, and periodic in-person attendance for key moments. There is no formal on-call schedule, but crisis-response availability is expected as issues arise. Compensation is an estimated US base salary of $195,000–$255,000, with potential eligibility to participate in TRM’s equity plan; pay depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In the first 30 days, the successful candidate is expected to deliver a corporate narrative and messaging architecture and a plan to consolidate communications responsibilities. Within 60 days, they are expected to land a planned earned-media moment, establish an executive-visibility calendar, and identify initial subject-matter experts for thought leadership. Within 90 days, they are expected to put a tested crisis-communications playbook and repeatable AI-assisted media-monitoring and reporting workflow in place.
