About The Position

Stord is seeking a VP of Applied AI & Internal Systems to lead the adoption of AI across all internal business functions, including Sales, Customer Success, Finance, People, Legal, IT, and Operations. This role involves building and leading a forward-deployed engineering and product team that embeds within business functions to identify and solve workflow problems with custom software and AI agents. The position will also own Stord's core operating systems (CRM, ERP, HRIS, etc.), rebuilding processes with AI to enhance efficiency and scalability. Integration of acquired companies' business systems onto Stord's platform is a key responsibility. The role requires strong technical depth in enterprise architecture, system integration, data management, and AI tooling, as well as proven leadership in change management and building high-performing teams. The goal is to create a unified, AI-powered operating system for Stord's internal business functions, driving efficiency and enabling the company to scale effectively.

Requirements

  • Experience building and leading a forward-deployed or embedded engineering team.
  • Experience leading an internal platform, tools, or applied AI/agents team.
  • Experience integrating systems, data, and teams following an acquisition.
  • 10+ years in a senior technical or operating leadership role in a high-growth business, with direct budget and hiring ownership.
  • Background in technology or tech-enabled businesses.
  • Enough hands-on technical background to earn credibility with engineers.
  • Deep fluency in enterprise application architecture, system integration, and data management (CRM + ERP + HRIS minimum).
  • Working knowledge of the current AI tooling and agentic landscape.
  • Solid grounding in IT operations, identity management, and security controls.
  • Earns trust across functions; Finance, Engineering, Revenue, and Operations all want to work with you.
  • Has led product and engineering talent specifically, and knows how to keep a build-focused team shipping.
  • Real change management chops: can get a Sales or Support team to adopt a new way of working.
  • Comfortable being the person who integrates a newly acquired company within months.

Responsibilities

  • Own Stord's AI adoption strategy across every internal team, spanning Sales, Customer Success, Finance, People, Legal, IT, and Operations.
  • Turn existing AI wins into a shared standard: one AI-native operating layer that every team builds on daily.
  • Own the security and compliance review process for AI tools and IT administration for AI platforms company-wide.
  • Partner with Stord's Product and Data leadership to ensure AI adoption work compounds existing product development.
  • Report progress and ROI on AI adoption to executive leadership.
  • Build and lead a forward-deployed engineering and product team: engineers and PMs who sit inside Finance, People, Legal, Support, and Operations, find workflow problems, and ship software and agents.
  • Own the systems Stord runs on (CRM, ERP, HRIS, Procurement, Customer Success platforms, and more) and build them to keep pace with growth.
  • Identify processes creating the most drag across Finance, People, Legal, Support, and Operations, and use AI to rebuild them.
  • Make build, buy, or cut calls on technology investments as Stord scales.
  • Set the roadmap and make integration and architecture calls for Stord's back office.
  • Own the business systems integration whenever Stord acquires a company.
  • Partner with Corporate Development and executive leadership on technical and operational due diligence for future acquisitions.
  • Own governance for key data domains: customers, vendors, products, locations, employees.
  • Set standards to make data a reliable asset for all teams.
  • Partner with Finance, Revenue, and Operations to align on shared metrics.
  • Own corporate IT strategy and day-to-day operations: identity and access management, device lifecycle, network infrastructure, end-user support.
  • Own security operations, built to move fast without cutting corners on compliance.
  • Build scalable processes for IT and security as headcount and geography expand.
  • Lead and grow a team across AI Enablement, Forward-Deployed Engineering & Product, IT, Security, and Enterprise Systems.
  • Build accountability and rigor within the team.
  • Earn trust across functions outside the reporting line.
