General Medicine•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

General Medicine has raised $120M in Series B funding to build the healthcare store. Healthcare needs a store where people can see prices, understand their options, and get advice from clinicians as easily as they shop for anything else. General Medicine is building this healthcare store, making it simple to access the best care. The company makes it easy for customers to shop for any product or service in healthcare, compare upfront cash and insurance prices, understand if the service is right for them, and purchase it. Behind this simplicity is complex infrastructure including payer integrations, pricing logic, eligibility systems, reconciliation workflows, and financial rails. The company is building the system that makes transact-able healthcare possible.

Requirements

  • Acquired initial users, pitched stakeholders, and established core operational workflows in ambiguous environments.
  • Built and shipped a product from 0 to 1, whether as a founder, an early product hire, or in a similarly ownership-heavy role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build data-backed business cases and secure buy-in from leadership.
  • Managed a roadmap across more than one workstream at a time and made real tradeoffs about where limited engineering capacity goes.

  • Startup background and comfortable with ambiguity, thin resourcing, and moving fast.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills to align engineering, clinical, and business stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare, healthtech, or another regulated-industry background.
  • Experience in a marketplace or two-sided business model.
  • A quantitative or technical background that allows for deep engagement with engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Build the product function from the ground up, establishing the product organization, hiring, processes, review cadences, and operating rhythms.
  • Establish how the company writes specs, defines success metrics, runs experiments, and decides what to build next.
  • Define complex initiatives such as new consumer experiences, payer integrations, or clinical workflows, and turn them into execution plans with clear owners.
  • Own and evolve the product roadmap across consumer experience, clinical/provider tooling, and pricing and payer infrastructure.
  • Allocate engineering capacity and justify trade-offs across competing priorities.
  • Balance near-term delivery with core architecture and infrastructure needs.
  • Develop business cases for proposed features, including resource needs, expected outcomes, and timing.
  • Champion initiatives with the CEO, Medical Director, CFO, and VP Engineering.
  • Communicate product strategy internally to cross-functional teams and externally to partners, payers, and investors.
  • Write specs, review designs, and resolve day-to-day blockers for engineering.
  • Partner with engineering leadership on sprint planning, sequencing, and capacity estimation using customer and care-team insights.
