About The Position

This role is responsible for leading the company’s international and domestic tax planning and compliance activities by working closely with business partners, third party vendors, departmental staff, and other cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective tax strategies, prepare returns, coordinate indirect tax, manage audits, consolidate foreign entity reporting, and manage other related tax activities. This position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer with high visibility to executive management team. The VP of Global Tax will provide leadership for the Global Tax function.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years in a public accounting firm and experience with tax filing for S-Corp, C-Corp, and LLC entities.
  • Extensive experience in tax planning, reporting, and accounting.
  • Experience mining financial and tax data from an ERP system such as SAP FM for use in analysis, auditing, and tax return preparation.
  • Must have a demonstrated hands-on leadership approach and success in leading and mentoring in a team-based environment.
  • Significant experience with global tax regulations, international tax compliance, and foreign entity reporting practices.
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite Products.

Nice To Haves

  • 5-10 years of experience in related field is preferred.
  • MA/MS/MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Business Taxation, CPA, or similar educational attainment or professional certification.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, administer, oversee, and maintain tax policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance across all tax obligations including, but not limited to, income tax preparation, foreign entity reporting, international tax compliance, sales and use tax, property tax, excise tax, owner/shareholder distributions, and tax audit management.
  • Manage new worldwide regulations introduced in 2016 and signed into Tax Law in 2017. This would include strategic analysis of current changes as well as future changes in the company’s Legal structure.
  • Manage the completion of all domestic and international returns by providing guidance and direction to domestic and international staff as well as third party vendors, including VAT and tax audit support.
  • Work closely with third party vendors to develop short- and long-term tax strategies; accurately communicate the organization’s plans, needs, and concerns to vendors and translate the strategies to actionable implementations.
  • Lead merger and acquisition taxation due diligence and post-acquisition activities working closely with third party vendors to schedule due diligence activities, analyze results, make recommendations, and plan strategy.
  • Investigate, research, and analyze tax issues at all levels and provide innovative, compliant, and effective solutions. Provide high level strategic optimization of existing tax structure. This would include active involvement and managing Legal Entity structure, analysis of beneficial tax jurisdictions, etc.
  • Manage third party vendors engaged to support the organization’s tax activities, and other ad hoc assignments; evaluate service quality, review and approve invoices, provide feedback and follow up on identified issues, and make recommendations to management on the selection or retention of vendors.
  • Lead the tax department and its employees including, but not limited to, departmental budget preparation and monitoring, performance and development, hiring, training, and termination recommendations.
  • This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
