About The Position

Vori is seeking a hands-on finance executive to lead both external and internal finance functions. This role requires a builder who can establish the finance infrastructure from the ground up, including FP&A, cash planning, accounting, reporting, controls, and operating discipline. The VP, Finance will be a key partner to the CEO and leadership team, responsible for strategic decision-making, capital allocation, and providing reliable visibility into company performance. This is a hands-on, company-building role, not a ceremonial one, for someone who can operate at the executive level while still establishing the finance function.

Requirements

  • Hands-on startup VP or CFO-caliber finance leader with experience in high-growth, venture-backed environments.
  • Strategic finance depth to lead capital markets work.
  • Operating finance discipline to build the finance function.
  • Experience leading or materially co-leading a venture financing process.
  • Experience building board and investor-facing financial narratives.
  • Experience owning FP&A, operating models, budget cycles, and cash forecasting.
  • Experience working with debt, structured financing, M&A, or strategic transaction analysis.
  • Experience building or scaling a finance function in a startup.
  • Experience managing accounting, controllership, or outsourced finance partners.
  • Experience partnering directly with founders, CEOs, boards, and investors.
  • Experience in SaaS, vertical SaaS, commerce infrastructure, payments, logistics, grocery, retail tech, or another operationally complex software business.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong mastery of the venture landscape and its power players.
  • Understanding of valuation mechanics and ability to reverse engineer toward Series C and beyond.
  • Ability to design forward narrative, metrics, and capital structure proactively.
  • Deep partnership with GTM, product, and ops to drive productivity, contribution margin, payments economics, and activation velocity.
  • Experience scaling from early chaos to structured growth.
  • Ability to build the financial operating system and thrive in ambiguity.
  • Ability to raise standards across the organization and build trust with the board and executive team.
  • Ability to speak fluently with sales leaders, engineers, and product leads.

Responsibilities

  • Lead capital strategy and fundraising processes, including building financial models, managing diligence, and advising on financing strategy.
  • Own the board financial package, translate company performance into a clear financial narrative, and prepare investor updates.
  • Build and own the company operating model, including budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning, and variance analysis.
  • Partner with GTM, Product, Operations, and People on financial plans and analyze key metrics such as revenue, gross margin, burn, runway, and customer economics.
  • Build the accounting and controllership foundation, ensuring accurate financial statements and improving AP, AR, payroll, and revenue recognition processes.
  • Create the necessary finance systems and reporting infrastructure to support scaling.
  • Build lightweight but effective spend controls and approval processes.
  • Support or lead M&A analysis, strategic partnerships, and transaction evaluation.
  • Model acquisition, partnership, or financing scenarios and evaluate build/buy/partner tradeoffs.
