About The Position

BMI is undergoing a significant business transformation, moving from a not-for-profit model to a PE-backed growth platform. This role is crucial in building the financial infrastructure to support this ambition. The VP, Finance will oversee FP&A, Treasury, and strategic finance, reporting to the CFO. This position requires managing the day-to-day finance operations with precision while simultaneously building new systems and reporting for a PE-backed platform. The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious about BMI's unique business model, which includes recurring license revenue, complex royalty distributions, digital streaming growth, and a substantial international footprint, acting as a thought partner to drive growth strategy.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of FP&A and finance leadership experience.
  • VP-level experience in a PE-backed environment.
  • Proven track record of constructing financial reporting infrastructure.
  • Experience with recurring revenue, licensing, subscription, or royalty/distribution models.
  • Comfort with revenue recognition timing complexity.
  • Experience with post M&A integration.
  • Advanced modeling, driver-based forecasting, and scenario analysis skills.
  • Treasury experience: cash forecasting, covenant compliance, banking relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial complexity into clear executive and board-level narratives.
  • Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, or Business required.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Experience working for a SaaS company preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the monthly and quarterly financial close process, including variance analysis, management reporting, and performance commentary.
  • Lead the annual budget and multi-year operating plan, managing the full planning calendar.
  • Maintain rolling forecasts and reforecasts throughout the year.
  • Serve as the primary finance business partner to commercial, licensing, technology, and operations leaders.
  • Deliver accurate, timely financial recommendations to the CFO and executive team.
  • Monitor performance indicators across all revenue lines and cost centers, identifying and explaining variances.
  • Own cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, debt covenant compliance, and banking relationships.
  • Manage the timing complexity between BMI's revenue recognition and royalty distribution cycles to optimize working capital.
  • Design the unified reporting package for New Mountain Capital, the Board of Directors, and internal leadership.
  • Implement driver-based forecasting tied to BMI's actual business metrics.
  • Build exit-ready financial infrastructure, including clean EBITDA presentation and normalized financials.
  • Develop models that underwrite new revenue streams, partnerships, and platform investments.
  • Evaluate ROI on technology deployments, marketing programs, and digital platform expansion.
  • Lead the team and systems build-out, including Oracle, Adaptive Insights, and Power BI integration.
