About The Position
Backline Alliance acquires regional youth soccer clubs, preserving their names and identities while managing the business operations behind them. This is the inaugural corporate hire, essential for ensuring financial viability. Initially, you will operate as a team of one, supported by an outsourced bookkeeping firm, and will be responsible for building the finance function from the ground up. This role offers a clear path to CFO, where you will develop the finance function as the platform expands, growing into the senior finance position organically rather than having someone hired above you. The emphasis is on attributes over extensive experience. We encourage applications even if not every qualification is met.
Requirements
- Experience owning multi-entity close in a private equity-backed or acquisitive business.
- Experience being the primary point of contact for banks.
- Ability to normalize messy target financials and interpret their true meaning.
- Skill in explaining financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage a function independently without direct supervision.
Responsibilities
- Oversee multi-entity close, reporting, and consolidation across all acquired clubs.
- Establish and manage the accounting function from its inception.
- Manage revenue collection and recognition for acquired clubs.
- Conduct financial due diligence on potential acquisition targets.
- Prepare the reporting package for the board, investors, and lenders.
