About The Position

This role will be the key finance leader for the Americas Region and the finance business partner for the SVP of Project Execution. The Project Execution for the Americas is responsible for execution in 2022 of approximately $2.4 billion dollars of sales. This executive role will lead the finance function for the Business Solutions business in the Americas region and partner closely with the SVP of Business Solutions – with these 2 roles effectively acting as CEO and CFO of the $1.7B project-based business. The responsibility includes strategic vision, tactical operational planning, and execution for the finance function and the broader business. The VP Finance Business Solutions will develop and lead a team of senior direct reports, with finance and accounting professionals deployed across United States, Canada and Mexico. Operationally this role will be accountable as the finance leader for commercial finance support (sales controlling), execution finance support (project controlling, installation, software and engineering). and cash flow. Functionally this role will be accountable for cashflow, as well as maintaining the appropriate control environment over the complex percentage of complete project business and delivering reporting and analytics as required by Dematic Global and KION HQ.

Requirements

  • Senior level finance, controlling and accounting experience in a complex high-tech business with a global workforce including previous experience “owing” the full P&L.
  • 12+ years of directly applicable finance or accounting experience in a progressive, fast paced, project-based environment with deep understanding of percentage of complete accounting.
  • Commercial growth mindset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent in Finance, Accounting or Business; master’s degree and CPA preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence others outside and across the organizational structure –including Dematic Group executive leadership, to build meaningful relationships, and to drive for results across functional lines
  • Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills for budgeting and forecasting combined with a strong attention to detail and the ability to present complex information in a usable format to a diverse audience
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting and budgeting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and the legal operating environment.
  • Experience and comfort working with SAP (or a similar ERP system), automated financial reporting systems (such as Oracle) and emerging AI platform ideally with experience of implementation and deployment of one of these systems.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections
  • Willing to travel 25% nationally and internationally

Responsibilities

  • Financial accountability for Dematic’s project business in partnership with SVP Business Solutions to grow the order intake and deliver revenue, profit and cashflow in accordance with group targets.
  • Financial support for the commercial functions (sales, business development, solution development and marketing) to provide insights and analysis designed to grow order intake, plus deal support on major deals (including costing/pricing approval and ensuring terms and conditions are acceptable).
  • Commercial support includes the design and administration of sales commission plans and ensuring order intake forecasts are robust and accurate.
  • Partner with project execution functions (project management, installation, engineering, software, procurement, manufacturing and quality) to deliver project margins as sold.
  • Lead and develop the Americas Business Solutions Finance team, including talent acquisition, talent development, knowledge management and coaching for excellence.
  • Direct and coordinate financial planning, forecasting management, budget management, capital requests, and the execution of strategic business plans for the project business and co-ordinate with regional and global FPA.
  • Design and monitor a robust control environment for revenue and cost recognition for all contracts under the percentage of complete revenue recognition in order to meet the requirements of external and internal auditors and the KION internal control system.
  • Report financial results to the America’s Leadership Team and the CEO of the region and other stakeholders and participate in key decisions as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Initiate and drive action plans to ensure KION groups long term and short term objectives are achieved (examples include Boost Up, tariff recovery, M&A, system implementations etc).
