VP, Embedded Software

SharkNinjaNeedham, MA

About The Position

SharkNinja is a global product design and technology company. We are looking for a VP of Embedded Software to build and lead the global organization that makes our products work: firmware, device software, and controls engineering. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role for a technical leader who wants to shape how a world-class consumer electronics company develops connected products at scale. You'll lead teams across the US, China, and beyond, working alongside Hardware, Advanced Development, and Controls to bring best-in-class embedded engineering to every product we ship.

Requirements

  • Built and led embedded or firmware engineering organizations at scale — globally.
  • Deep embedded systems expertise: RTOS, firmware lifecycle, device controls architecture.
  • A track record of scaling embedded QA and automated testing that actually sticks.
  • Experience leading distributed teams across regions, including Asia-based orgs.
  • Strong systems thinking — ability to define and enforce integration frameworks across hardware/firmware/software boundaries.
  • Executive-level communication skills: ability to translate technical complexity into clear strategy for both engineering and business audiences.
  • Experience leading embedded software/firmware teams within a consumer electronics/consumer products environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Consumer electronics, IoT, or connected product background.
  • Familiarity with BLE/Wi-Fi connectivity and device-to-cloud patterns.
  • Experience with HIL testing, CI/CD for firmware, or embedded QA infrastructure.
  • Exposure to controls engineering and bridging it with software workflows.
  • Managing vendor or offshore development relationships with accountability for quality.

Responsibilities

  • Set the vision and run the organization — not just manage it.
  • Build the team: Hiring, developing, and inspiring a global bench of engineers, tech leads, and managers.
  • Set the standard: Defining engineering practices, tooling, and quality frameworks that work for real-time and embedded systems across distributed teams.
  • Drive alignment: Bridging firmware, software, and controls disciplines so requirements, architecture, and validation are tight from day one.
  • Own delivery: Accountable for quality and execution across the device software portfolio, including QA and test automation at the embedded level.
  • Represent the org: Communicating strategy, tradeoffs, and progress clearly at the executive level and across cross-functional partners.
