About The Position

Vultr is seeking a Vice President, Data Center Construction to lead the planning, construction, and commissioning of large-scale multi-MW to GW scale AI data centers. This leader will be responsible for ensuring each project is completed on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards. The VP will lead construction design, planning, execution, and commissioning phases for the full lifecycle of the program, starting with site selection through commissioning. This person will partner closely with Infrastructure Operations, Procurement, and Operations to ensure each facility meets the highest standards in technical and security requirements of high density GPU and AI workloads while optimizing cost, schedule, and performance outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading hyperscale data center construction programs.
  • Deep expertise in large scale electrical and mechanical systems, power distribution, and liquid cooling.
  • Proven experience with large scale GPU and AI data center deployments, including high density liquid cooled infrastructure.
  • Experience working directly with data center operators and construction partners to align on program and project plans in order to drive, execute, and deliver desired outcomes
  • Deep understanding of MEP systems, commissioning and critical load infrastructure.
  • Experience with a variety of cooling technologies in different climate zones.
  • Experience and relationships with the most prominent manufacturers and construction companies in the industry.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a construction management team of like-minded professionals with a wealth of experience and eager to build the next generation of infrastructure.
  • Lead and direct all phases of data center construction, from early feasibility and site selection through design, procurement, build and commissioning.
  • Direct the successful delivery of 10 to GW+ data center programs
  • Partner with internal Infrastructure Engineering to ensure there is technical alignment against the program’s basis of design (BoD)
  • Review and validate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) system designs, including MV/LV distribution, UPS systems, PDUs, busways, switchgear, and generator configurations.
  • Ensure all facilities are designed and constructed to meet or exceed environmental and energy-efficiency standards, achieving optimal PUE performance and long-term operational sustainability.
  • Ensures all fit-out and construction related Non-Recurring Costs (NRCs) are tightly controlled, accurately forecasted, and aligned with approved program budgets.
